Go buy a decent polish made by Auto Glym, Mothers or Maguiars.
$20 fo u to do it vs $100 to get him to do it

However if the swirls are so bad such that a decent polish will not fix it I'd not use a detailer as he will just rub on a product made by one of the above, same as you can.
If that is the case, go to a panelbeaters with a rep for show cars and they will compound with mega fine cut polish (to actually remove some of the scratched clear coat) followed by a decent polish
