Glad it help.

am a hell of a lot better off for it.

some times ignorance is bliss... knowing how the system works hasn't really helped me, it just opened a can of "Economic Slave" on me.

No sure I'm an atheist, I can't define what "God" is, so the way I look at it is there's a whole load of stuff I just don't understand... like what caused the Big Bang, did the Big Bang really happen, what sparked Chaos theory, how do atoms form from elementary particles... some times it's easier for me to just put it down to the "seed of consciousness".

Interesting videos Buster.

What can be done about it? I like the idea if no more debt is created by banks then money will run out with the bank owning everything. Not like as in wanting it to happen but liking it as an interesting concept.

The movie/site below proposes some solutions... I don't think they're workable, but at least they're thinking... I was a fan of Jacque's before I watched the movie, I then thought a resource based economy could only be implemented on a very small scale, taking decades to implement on a larger scale. Our system isn't really broken it just needs some tweaking.

Anyway...

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.

"Not very long." they answered in unison.

"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.

"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take siestas with our wives. In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.
We have a full life."

The tourist interrupted,
"I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!
You should start by fishing longer every day.
You can then sell the extra fish you catch.
With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."

"And after that?"

"With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant.
You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City , Los Angeles , or even New York City !
From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."

"How long would that take?"

"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist.

"And after that?"

"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting, " answered the tourist, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!"

"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen.

"After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife
and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."

"With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now. So what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans.

And the moral of this story is:

Know where you're going in life....
you may already be there

japie: ha ha, that's a feel good story poor people tell themselves. Here's a different story.

Ben 23 just out of college/uni where he didn't too well sets up a website for losers looking for work. Approaches a venture capital firm who invest $1million so he can hire and promote the site.

1 year later they IPO the company which injects $96 million in to it.

Ben gives me self a salary of $500,000 year, buys a mansion for "his failover servers", and a couple Jaguars on the company.

Later he offers free job advertising to swell his customer base.

Ben now 25 sells his loserneedsajob.com site for $190 million... to a large employment agency, venture capitalist get's 50%.

Ben now with 70 million after tax, buys a nice boat and sails around the world.
He learnt how to sail and fly while "working".

Ben is now 36 and having a f***ing ball!

==========================================================

What about, the CEO of my company... all he does is go from meeting to meeting, talks for a couple hours a day. Drives a different Mercedes every day (today it was a burgundy SL, yesterday was a black AMG SL).
Recently shared holders complained about his renumeration package.

And good on Ben. He had a good idea, put it together, made it work. Then he had the smarts and the cojones to go to a venture capitalist and ask for $1 million smackers. Most important was that he made it all work. If he'd failed to deliver, the venture capitalist would've pulled the plug and taken everything they could lay their hands on. Mansion, cars, you name it. He'd be lucky to come out of it with a failover server.

Yeah, he comes out in the end with lots of filthy lucre but he's had to put in hard yards to get there. He's welcome to it! And the stress that came in earning it.

I'd be too dumb to recognise the good idea in the first place, too chicken to put my balls on the line and too lazy to ever make it work properly. Guess I'm just a village fisherman at heart...

Yeah, good on Ben for being a dumb ass, exploiting the system, making a motza that gave him a lifestyle he didn't really want and probably shortened his life.

Stiff bickies for the worthy people in his wake that paid for his excesses.

That system is unsustainable and is in it's dying throes.

Ego- the concious thinking subject (not a dirty word)

Egotism- Too frequent use of "I" & "me"; practise of talking about oneself; self conceit; selfishness.
