A car should travel an average of 20 thousand k's a year. A 91 is 15 years old and should have done 300 thousand k's. This in my opinion is ok. But anymore and I wouldn't look twice. Any less and you should be stoked

If there are major problems, they are likely to be mechanical. It is the things you can't see that can cost a heap to fix, like the auto trans. It is definately getting long in the tooth. But if all is sweet it may be... and especially if the price is right

Check out redbook.

Ahhhh in a word "Nu" wouldn’t recomend any vehicle with 300,000ks on a chassis used in Australian conditions would render most of the running gear beyond economical repair.
That is the suspension, back axle housing components and suchlike. Engine and Transmission have probably been changed out by now, but the rest including the steering and front end gear will be weellll worn.
Unless your getting it for a song, look for something under the 200k mark. Hope this doesn’t piss the seller off, but that’s life on mechanical bits.

Have seen many falcons (in particular the caps) with close to a mil ks. the transmission is one thing to replace every few hundret thousands but that car rolls and rolls.

Head Gaskets are practically the most expensive part in the engine to repair... Especially if the car is more than 15/20 years old Nearly cheaper to ditch the car and buy a second hand newer model for $5000 than have the gasket, radiator, conveyor belt or anything else die on it pretty soon after the gasket it repaired... It's car grave-yard time sorry Jake...

Have fun car searching

For thouse of you 'in the know' or 'mature' enough to remember when FIAT 125's were here, you know what I'm talking about.

Damn good cars... It drives like a real car should...

My theory over the years of if the car doesnt start, open the door, and at the same time as turning the engine key, slam the door really really hard and fast, it'll jump start the engine... coincidence i know... but it did work! I swear it did at times!

The only bad thing is that being around since '71, parts become rare, more expensive, more expensive to repair over and over and over again, after it continualyl breaks down... and slowly it dies

Yeah, but don't try and tell us you're only showing 680,000Kms on the clock.
