it seems no matter what i use mac or pc to edit , once you make the picture bigger than a utube clip it becomes pixelated . when ever i burn a dvd from the camera the image is not shape and clear . if you put some other footage from a camcorder with it the difference between the two is alot. is anyone else having this problem with the gopro wide , could it be the wrong brand of sd card or is it just something you have to put up with ? any help would be great as i have run out of ideas to fix this on going problem

hi kaos,
What format are you editing in??? is it HD- 720p or 1080i??
If not, i reckon your editing package might be compressing/ down converting the go pro footage to standard def. That would explain the pixelation.

thanks for the reply mick . i am only new to this editing and have a macbook with imovie hd , also imovie 09 and on the pc adobe premier . i have been using imovie hd as i find it is the easiest for me to use . my gopro is not the hd it is only the wide angle i guess its the standard def . the format is avi . is there any way to tell if it is compressing ? thanks michael

hey michael,
here's what I do with my standard def go pros. It might not work for everyone but I've had pretty good results

Download "streamclip" from www.squared5.com
Convert the raw avi files from gopro cam to .dv files (@ 720X576 resolution). That way they are native files for imovie.

Streamclip is a great free convertor that also allows ypu to tweak the quality as you convert. If you select highest quality, the go pro vids come up quite well.

Good luck!

hi mick just another quick question . when you say set highest quality what do you mean and how do you do it? this is what i have done dv(dv25) pal 720x576 25fps aspect ratio 4:3 . interlaced scaling was ticked, and then i converted clip. When i watched it on Quicktime i didn't see any difference in quality. So i ticked and unticked a few other different options ie. Better downscaling, deinterlace video - but i still couldn't see any difference? Which ones should i tick to increase the quality. The version of Streamclip i downloaded was 1.9.3b2 - does that matter? appreciate your help - michael
