Gents/ladies, advice on getting back in the studying game welcome.

I'm looking at Western A. as a nice place to study and kite. Courses in Media/Design/Usability leading to either a Masters or Phd with coursework/research. If any of you have contacts in that area I'd appreciate good advice. Or just generally, whats a uni with a good reputation?

I've gone through the visa details and it looks like I can get in. Say I take a place at the Uni of WA in Perth (worst case cost??) whats the cost of living per month I'm likely to fork out?

Any other thoghts very welcome.

cheers

maybe around 900-1000 $ /month
for the basics :house-food..etc...but that could drop a bit if you find cheap room in shared house.

you could probably stay with Hardie, aka Hardman.
He was running a backpackers for sweedish chicks for a time.
Think he's switched now so you might be in luck.
Watch out for his thick thumb though, bring tears to your eyes.

Alas poor relative - going a bit around the bend with the current wind drought.

I am not a local (Not having been born here - have only been here for 20 years!) but I would go to UWA - it has the location for a teabagger (right next to Pelican Point - Look at http://www.whereis.com.au/whereis/mapping/geocodeAddress.do?advertiserId=&streetNumber=&streetName=&poiType=&suburb=crawley&state=Western+Australia&x=0&y=0) and is relatively close to the beaches/city/Freo (c.f. Edith Cowan and Curtin)

As for living on 1k/month - depends on how much you drink! For an old fella used to the conforts of life allow 2k per month, at least. You will need a car in Perth.
