Many people play with the ones from K-mart, about 1.0 square metres.

Or if it is windy, people go windsurfing.

Stop wasting your hard earned on a sport that frankly doesn't compare to w/surfing.

At 80kg a 6m and 100 litre should be plenty for summer.

Haha^

You'd probably better off asking in the kite forum.

Also, where abouts in Australia you plan on living will also affect the choice.

You know your sport's old n busted when you measure your board by how much beer you have to drink to look good on it.

15 knots to 35 knots of wind range should get you through in WA for the summer. year round I would go 8 and 12 provided the top end of your 8 is high. I'm 95kgs and kite 6 and 11 but that's me liking smaller kites and not bothering to take the gear out when below 17 knots or above 40.

Haha one person suggested an 8. Best bet would be to go down to what will be your local beach, and have a look at what the guys there are using. Have a chat to em and see what the wind range normally is etc.

If you're in Perth it appears we are in for quite a good Summer. Start with the 10, but aim to get a 12 and an 8 as well.
Or a 9/12 quiver if you want to keep it to 2 kites would seem to cover most people quite well.
This is assuming you have a twintip. And are in Perth - there is generally more wind in the North and a bit less in the Southwest.
PS you would get take a lot more seriously in the kitesurfing forum. Shooting the Breeze is an undisciplined rabble.

Yeah and the kite forum isn't
Maybe that's why kiters post so regularly in the wrong area?

I enjoy the banter between windsurfers and kiters. So are the kiters really gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) or is it just a kinda thing like how Irish are dumb and kiwis pump sheep thingy joke whatever.

I can imagine the Rio Olympics 2016 ad now:

"Now with Kitesurfing. A bit gay but not that much, kinda Irish but not too dumb and a bit sort of Kiwi but with less sheep action. We expect 200 entrants for kitesurfing.... half will send the application to the wrong place, ending up in athletics ...... and about 100 will get it right and compete"

you guys are funny, shame you are becoming extinct surely the UN, WWF, Department of conservation would do something, soon enough windsurfers will be fossils kids look at in museums. Just another species that could not adapt and survive...

Perhaps you need to recruit in new demographics?

Surely there is hope, plenty of useless people around!
