and that is what exactly?
We have our clocks turned back 1 hour enabling us to have an extra hour of daylight.
Ok this is the basic premise for it.
So your hours are 9-5 (mine are officially 8-5 but I won't quibble) sunset for WST (western standard time) is 8pm roughly in summer.
Ohh you can't get from work to the beach in time, try harder, my office is in Welshpool I live south of Mandurah just shy of 100km away, I'm on the road each day I have no idea of where I'll end up yet I can manage to get down the beach most nights for at least a 1 hour session.
Now lets look at breezes, the breeze normally comes in at around 1400hrs WST thats now 1500hrs WDST provided it doesn't come in late.
If you have any family commitments like I do those times do not change so Daylight saving is actually a detriment there if the breeze comes in later.
If you want to go out to dinner or movies etc you end up in there an hour earlier so you are not actually saving anything there.
I also surf, I love the Dawn patrol, getting up at 4.30am heading of in the dark, to check out breaks in the half light and hitting the water before the crowds get there, dawn is an hour later so there ends up being no advantage in watching the sun rise over the dunes.
When we drive home with daylight saving, it's an hour earlier and a damn sight hotter.
The one benefit I see in the whole thing is for Business, the company which I work for has one of it's production centers in Melbourne, pre daylight savings it used to be a right royal pain in the freckle as you had to have orders in before 12 to get things out for the afternoon flights as against 1300hrs normally.
Winter to me is a good time to have daylight saving as the sun sets normally at 6pm which would mean no more getting down the beach just on dark.
Soooo
Please explain why we must have daylight in summer, what did you do the year before and the year before etc
