I think I remember echostorm breaking a few bones in his leg last summer...
I'd say it is extreme as you make it, you can't say what Lenten does is not extreme - but then again there are many people who believe a sports extremity is based solely upon how easily it is to kill oneself while doing it.
I remember watching my uncle kitesurfing years and years ago, I thought it was pretty extreme and I must say a lot of people who haven't done it before would say the same. I mean yeh strapping yourself to a giant kite does sound pretty crazy, but when you learn how not to get yourself thrown into things then it becomes less scary.
So in concept it is extreme, there are just so many different elements thrown into one sport that ends up looking so unique. But as far as extremity measured by injury, death etc, then no.
I'd also say advertising a sport based on it's extremity would encourage too many showponies to join up; they far outnumber adrenaline junkies.
