do you know what they are making... I do there cobra workers making your kite boards and pole boards. do you think they know what there making!

I laughed at the surfing industry for years not using the new technologies available to them, but at least now they still have some sort of industry in Australia because surfers stuck with there Aussie shapers and more or less nocked back mass produced boards, unlike kite boarders who pay top dollar for a board that looks good or because they have seen them advertised.

But what is truly funny is that most of the big name brand boards are mass produced by the one company Cobra in Bangkok and made by unskilled workers for a VERY VERY cheap rate yet there more expensive than Aussie made boards?

Buy a board from an aussie company there better quality and cheaper where is the down side?

So if your in the market for a new board

You should check out

Stonker aussie owned and made

Cardboardaussie owned and made

Forceaussie owned (made both here and o/s)

Please correct me if I am wrong as I am doing this reasearch for a project for my course.

cheers

i am sure someone is going to say i work for one of the mentioned companys. but i dont.

Kilo we all know where they are made. What you are saying is nothing new and all comes down to the price per unit being made. Why hasnt the price come down?? probly because its at a price that we are still prepared to pay on a certain board design. And force actually owns part of a factory in thailand and that is where their boards are manufactuered.Cardboards are made out of hervey bay in queensland and does a mighty fine job of it too.

THE DOWN SIDE.

as a board builder of some decades let me tell you that the stuff is
really toxic and many of my aquaintances in the board building industry have suffered internal cancers and other health problems even though they were mighty watermen.

as a sufferer of epoxy induced skin mange (red itching custard stuff) when exposed to epoxy fumes i can say every board you buy is contributing to someones early death.
in europe the factories have sealed ventilated rooms for lamination processes with robotic arms.
local manufacturers take note.
p.s. i wore full body overalls, gloves, hoods, organic respirators at all times .
still working towards my next board building project in the future in a space suit!
