Had a go of an 11m 007 fuel and tried the 12m Link. Enough said about the link, tried both bars, but the fuel was by far one the best C kites I have ridden in terms of being user friendly. Thinner struts than the 06, thinner leading edge (i think). The adjustable stopper ball (same as the link) works really well on a C kite.
1 thing fuel riders might not like is the excellent depower???
The fifth line also got pretty twisted when doing multiple spins.
IMO Slingshot have saved their reputation in 07 by producing the fuel

ahh, the good old fuel. I was out on my 04 model this afternoon, which I've been riding since 04, what a solid kite. Been to hell and back, and just won't die. Not to mention a good stable ride. After all the kites I've flown I reckon fuels are the best, I expect if the blue beast ever dies it will be replaced by another fuel.

So if it's got an adjustable stopper ball is it be possible to adjust some of the depower out of it? And will it fly normal without the 5th line? I find a lot of newer c kites are unstable if the 5th line isn't just the right tension.

Heaps of depower with the adjustable stopper. Fly's just as well 4 line as 5 line so it is not 5th line dependant.Just my opinion, so take it for what thats worth.

but I don't want heaps of depower, I want to lock in the power. Does it work as well for that? Chap I live with just bought a new kite of a different brand with an adjustable stopper and it pops out all the time.

Good about the fifth line though, I expected ss would have their act together on that.

The stopper works a treat every time. I had the 06 fuel and now have the 07 fuel. The stopper is a kick ass addition to a kick ass kite.

the best jump I did with it was when I pulled the stopper ball to no depower and cranked it. halfway up I just pushed it out with my thumbs to give me a little depower to land.
So to answer your question greenpat yes....if you want to to depower for gusty conditions yes. If its perfect you can fly it almost like a 2 line kite...
BTW the stopper ball setup was the only thing that impressed me about the link

Hey guy's,
I'm a happy Link owner in light to 25 knots winds but thinking about a high wind kite (fuel). I'm thinking the 7 Link would be a bit of a hand full in winds over 25 knots.
How much depower does the 4 line '07 fuel have compared to normal C kites or Link?
If the Link is rated at 100% depower, where would U rate the fuel depower?

dont know about the fuel's depower, but i would have though a link would be much better in such winds - because of its depower. (tho not 100%')
also - its probably not wise to mix bow and c-shaped kites in your quiver as riding technique to both is quite different.
(as is safety)

I hear you, thats how I like my set up as well. I like to ride with about 3 inches of throw only and the new fuel bar lets you do exactly that. Adjust it where you want and locks in and holds every time and yet to experience any slippage. Best thing about the stopper I find is when riding unhooked on the suicide, as I unhook I push the stopper all the way up and if I miss the pass the bar slides up depowering the kite considerably. Whereas previously with a short throw chicken throw with the old locked on stopper, when I missed the bar it would remain powered and I would cop a hiding.

The only draw back of using this type of stopper is it harder to turn the bar because the stopper inserts (jams) into the bar hole and becomes 'part of the bar' so to speak (creates a similar look and feel to that of the 05 knuckle saver bar) and I find that turning the bar also turns or pushes the chicken loop in the stopper to the side as well creating pressure.

Still, I can't recommend the bar enough.

Just my two cents. (more like about half a cent!)

Cheers
