05 airush kites are in this week already flown them and are stoked with the new changes. not sure on the f1s not too popular over here id stick too the bigger brands with better reputations. not writing f1 off it is just no one sells them so id find out why before u buy one, hope it helps.

As chopper knows since he rides F1's, to date theyhave been great and M5 probably good too . Don't luff, excellent upwind and relaunch and airtime and pretty tough.

Why no-one sells them now in WA? Maybe cause kite market is flooded right now and few people are prepared to pay $2000 for a top of the line kite which is roughly what an F1 costs now?

Most kites here in WA are Airrush as the distributor is here and so more margin that can be used for promotion (shown by the number of riders sponsored or semi-sponsored to ride Airrush kites such as Ryland). Also lots of Slingshot's as it had the one pump system which has been a big selling point for them.

We don't even see too many Naishs here, Ocean Rodeo's, Globe RIders and heaps of other good kites..doesn't mean they aren't great kites and possibly better than some of the more popular ones here in WA. Not even many Liquid Force which seem to be really good value.

Probably if there were more sponsored riders of these other kites they would get on and plug them as well Just there is not the market for about 10 different brands in WA and so not enough money to go around.

I reckon there are heaps of kites out there roughly equal and the bargain you can get and personal preference is all that matters.

I THINK WHEN U GAVE THE 'ROUGH' PRICE OF 2000 DOLLARS IT PRETTY MUCH ANSWERED WHY NO ONE WOULD BUY THEM OR BOTHER SELLING THEM.
DONT NEED TO PAY THAT MUCH FOR A GOOD KITE ANYMORE.
HENCE ALSO WHY NO-ONE RIDES NAISH UNLESS THEY ARE RICH OR SPONSORED.

yeah.. im not that worried about price,I just like the product, and the most ive paid was $1700 for a 16m.. so I'd say the "craze" for the same kite that the sponsored riders are riding is the main reason.. I like the look of it though... main changes from last model are tip changes, mounting positions, trailing edge, and 5th line by the looks..wonder how it goes?

I disagree with you extralite , I think the reason that Airush is so popular in WA is because of the back up service and no bull **** warranty . They back the product 100%.
I have had a number of kites from the other major kites brands and when there was a problem I always had to talk to somebody over east . That person would then tell me how it was my fault without even seeing the problem .
Since I have been using Airush kites I have had no kite failures
They also have one of the biggest if not the biggest range of products . 4 different types of kites and a selection of boards that cover every aspect of the sport .
The design and the the R&D is done here in Perth . This company designs kites in WA conditions , it makes sense to me to take advantage of all these factors . That is why I went to Airush instead of the others.
Anybody can sell you a kite and you might be happy , it is what they do after they sell you the kite that determines if you enjoy the rest of the season .

Yeah Mike I agree Airborne give good support for Airrush, as do all the shops for their kites. Good to support the shops so we all have spare parts just down the road.

I like the way Airrush kites are built. Look tough. And they were first with the segmented leading edge weren't they? But Airrush kite design seems to follow others, even in appearance, not push the technology. Like slingshots one pump, when it works is a huge leap. Wipika first with the inflated edge for water relaunching I think. The recon system and 5th line by other kite designers. And if you have a look at the new FONE that started this thread, it looks like they have pushed kite design, not followed the others. An elipitical tip is aerodynamically more efficient due to less wingtip vortice generation ( I think). It is not used in most slow speed airfoils on planes because it is less stable but could be good for kite turning speed. www.fonekites.com. It just looks like it is pushing kite design with something different.

Anyway its all personal preferance. Which are the kites with Bull**** warranties. I have never heard any bad stories yet?

It is all about personal preferance , and every kite is weighted towards an area of performance .
As far as pushing new design , the wing tips that are on the new F1's was introduced by Flexifoil a couple of years ago .
One pump , recon and the 5th line are features that don't increase performance but are a bit like 4 wheel steering on cars and parking sensors , nice to have . 5th line and recon are good safety systems , but still do have a few drawbacks .
If you want raw performance try the Lift pro , this kite has been rated as the highest performance kite available on the market by different mags around the world .
User friendly kites that are simple to use with out a lot of clutter that can cause other problems is my personal preferance as I tend to use my gear a lot and don't always pull off what I am trying .
The new 05 kites from Airush are all very "user friendly" and the progression made is a better balance of usable performance and handeling . Like improving suspension , ABS braking and traction controle rather than just putting more HP under the hood .All these things let you concentrate on what you want to do rather than on what the kite is doing .
As far as the bad warranties go , it happened and I will leave it at that .

Sorry Extralite what are you talking about... Have you seen UK based Flexifoil kites from 2002/03 and Sydney based Monkey kites 2003 and currant models. Both companies have been using this wingtip design for a while. FONE's are not pushing kite designs at all, I've never flown an FONE so cant comment what they fly like.

Hey Dachopper, cant comment on the exact prices as we're one of Airrush's competitors...

However credit where credit is due their back ground is very solid in WA as is ours in the DR...

Monkey kites... you have got to be joking comparing this tip with the M5 tip....from that picture take a look in the M5 gallery at the tip picture and tell me if it looks anything like the monkey?.. the monkey kite appears to just have a rounded corner with still a 90 degree angle between leading edge and tip horizontal edge... the M5 is like an actual eliptical ie the horizontal never gets horizontal if you look at it... show me another kite that has done this..... because I couldn't find any, gastra is the same... still a squared corner.....and i also herd that some of the top riders (franz olry )have changed over to F1 next year. i agree with extralight on this one... i have never seen that shape before

found a review at kiteforum.com/index.php?page=http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2308795&navi=1&button=forum

that sounds prety promising!

yeah dont think the ones mentioned are eliptical..ie tapered in to the wingttip. These were more curved leading edges more to help with relaunch. Im not an expert but thats what they look like to me.

The idea of eliptical tips is that the vortices that forms as a result of the lift reduce toward the tip rather than all spilling off the side of the kite in big wingtip vortices that increase lift dependant drag. So in theory the kite should be more efficient. They have it on competition hang-gliders by Moyes as that is also a low speed aerofoil like a kite, the Spitfire had it etc. It makes sense for a kite to have it if everythign else works okay like relaunch and stability.

yeah what is the background of Airrush designers? Do they use wind tunnels or anything?
