G'day, I just finnished setting up my New 2008 Cabrinha Custom 133. Im 5"5' so i went with the shorter stance option. Im keen on progressing in Wake style very agressive riding.

What is the Advantages/Disadvantages of a short vs wide stance?. And is there any other tweaks or tips owners of Customs can contribute would be sweet.

Cheers

One big benifit of a wider stance is Balance, the wider your stance the more balence to will have. However to wide and you will be uncomfortable, so go the widest stance that still feels comfortable and natural.

mmmmm i got the feeling the shortest stance is my widest i can go,,,,, im a petty stocky bloke. will just have to try both configurations out when we get some decent winds.

If thats the widest you can go, then that is the correct stance for you

the wider the stance the slower your rotations become so keep that in mind. but in general a wide stance really helps wen you load and pop as well as giving you a stable landing platform. im fairly average or slightly above average height n i ride bindings n with my stance i have it set on the widest on the board but narrowest on the boot so its just a bit wider then widest strap setting on normal boards.

just go jump off a chair or table and land with ur feet spread.. that distance is the distance ur stance should be. take note of how ducked ur feet are aswel.

The general rule for kite and snow board is, the distance apart should be roughly the same as the distance from the ground to the centre of your knee when stood straight up. This should be the most natural stance for all styles of riding, and eliminates any unusual twisting, which greatly reduces the chance of injury to all parts of your body.

Go wider. But if you have bad knees and ankles as i do, you might wanna be careful on how wide you go.
