Hey there guys,
Just in regards to the setup. Ive noticed in some posts the mentioning of 2:1 and 1:1 setups. As my understanding is that its for strong wind and light wind setups. Was wondering if my kite infact has this option??
Or my tuning options for wind are just the wingtip 3 knots??

Also thinking of trying unhooked soon and was wondering where i should attach my leesh for the safest and most practicle option.

Thanx in advance
Toby

Also any other feedback in regards to this kite would be appreciated.

1:1 is the best just adjust how much bar pressure you want with the bridals and, DONE!!!

From memory the 09 doesn't have a convertible bar, which means 1:1 is your only option. Do you have pulleys on the bar?

I'm not a fan of 2:1. Too heavy. I don't think I've ever used it on my current kite.

Hi Toby

The 09 Switchy IDS can only be flown 1:1, there is not convertibel option and in fact all Switchys since 07 have been 1:1 only.

Just connect your lines to the middle knots and do all the adjustments at the bar, with the trim strap.
To unhook with an 8M trim strap should be pulled on about 5-8cm, the test is if the kite stalls(slows down too much) when you unhook, trim strap should be pulled in more.

You leash on the IDS kites should be attached to the chicken loop, never to the IDS release ring.
If you are unhooking clip the leash to the yellow tubing, and remove the donkey dick.
If you need a donkey dick again use one of these on your harness.

If you don't unhook, clip the leash to the metal plate that the red top hat release connects to.

Never clip the leash to the IDS release ring on the chicken loop.

I have always connected me leash to the metal plate under the quick release for unhooking, why don't you recommend that?

This is straight from the Cabrinha - 2009 Switchblade IDS Powerdrive instruction manual

Manual can be downloaded from the cabrinha web site

If you are happy to have it there fine, it works.
It also works to have it clipped to the loop itself.

For hooked in riding, its better to connect it to the metal plate, than anywhere else as the instructions state.

thanx for your help guys, looking forward to trying unhooked. Will try attaching the leesh at both points and just see which ones easier for getting the loop back onto the harness.

im guessing that if you crash the kite you should try and attach the chicken loop again for the relaunch??

Yes hook back in for relaunch.
Just grab the chicken loop by pulling on the leash, hook in and relaunch or ride away smiling because you smoked that landing!!

i just read the comments and i wonder why not clip the leash to the IDS release ring on the chicken loop.

Is that just for unhooked kiting or in general

www.cabrinha.com/pages/user-manuals

Read the Powerdrive manual on this page, it explains where to clip a leash, however a leash should never be clipped to the IDS ring on the chicken loop.

i just wonder because it was shown me in my training lessons to attach the leach to the ring.

What coul possibly happen by attaching to the ring and what is the differrence by using the chicken loop.
I released several times the Quickrelease even for landing the kite and had never problems.

Just lucky that nothing serious happen ?????
