just a note to warn any one with an 09 cabrinha switchblade... i have had two pulley failures ( separate times) and in mid flight too... at least 3 more of us on the same beach have had the same problem... the rivet acting as the axle has been made from a bad batch of material...
would be a good safety thing to give ya pulleys a good going over and check them cos it bloody hurts being dumped from 5 m with the kite in a wild loop..
if any one has had this issue i would be interested to hear about it..

Cabrinah say the pully failures are due to there not being enougth on the kite next year they are aiming to have over 50 lol. maby look at replacing all the pullys with good quality ones but this would end up costing more than the kite is worth. just sell them and buy a real kite.

mine totally snaped last week had been kiting came in to change boards went to take off again then i seen the back line drop to ground?wtf had a look at pulleys and yes the link between the two had gone/snaped ? checked the other ones and they were near seized with dryed salt also, only had a bit of wd in the ute but it worked
i blame myself for not checking or washing them this was an 08 cab the kite turned
better after clean up so it must of been blocking up with salt for a long time .
as i said my fault no enough maintenance on pulleys so check them.

i think wear&tear for me & more checking of pulleys + had never checked them before on my 12m when i checked my 9m same thing was happening freed them too i dont think wd is the best to use long term sand seems to stick to it mybe a silican spray?all good for now for the amount i kite which is a lot i put it down to wear & tear & no maintance so check the link where the two pulleys link together to see if it is seizeing up if so free them up. i had been out in 5footers going out about 1/2 k runs glad it happened on the beach when changing boards didnt know till relaunch time, was thinking about down winder at the time 14 kms of beach and i do this a lot so was lucky it went when it did.

yeap problems with the pulleys hopefully they have sussed this problem out with the spare pulleys.

i have been making my own replacements... being an engineer.. so cost is next to nothing even though i am using top quality materials...

i like what i ride too air rush geoff not slagging the brand just trying say check your pulleys on any brand and would buy another cab when the time comes

what is the best method of prolonging a pulleys life? is it just to wash them in fresh water occasionally, or is there somthing you can spray on them to keep them working and in good condition?

Are the pully's on the ids the same as the ones on the sb2? I checked mine the other day and they were working nicely with no blockages. I have the 10m sb2 which has ronston pully's and for a 3yr old kite it's pretty good that I haven't had to change anything major yet. The only thing i've changed was one of the bridles for piece of mind, it still had some life in it though. that only cost $8 to replace

They are different, IDS pulleys are a better design let down by typical dodgy Chinese recycled stainless steel.
Got replacements today for anyone that needs them.

CRC brand 808 silicone spray ,clear ,thin,durable ,odourless film that lubs,waterproofs and protects ideal for plastics, metals vinyls fibreglass etc this is whats written on side of the can .
a moto rider gave me can of it and have been using it on my pump every now and then also sprayguns at work, seems to work ok.

Just sprayed my pulleys with ronstan silicon spray. They are feeling like new again. This stuff is magic. I am not sure how often I should use it though, I am thinking maybe after 10-15 sessions

Spray everything about every 3-6 months (depending on use). Flying lines, bridles with pulleys, pulleys, chicken loops etc.

Pro tip - don't spray your bar as it makes it a bit tricky to hang on to later...

Yes, we only got them earlier this week in bulk, we did have them in stock as a single pulley spare part, but now they come in a colour coded 2 pack.
I will let Goshen know to order some from us.

If a pulley breaks it will be replaced at no charge. The breakage issue is only affecting a small number of kites, if you have any concerns contact your Cabrinha dealer.
