gday guys.... just wondering what knot you usually put your steering lines on in what wind conditions. based around a 75kg rider on about a 130cm board?? for the 12m switchblade that is!

I'm 82 kg's on a 12 mtr s/blade and have it on the centre knot.
I'm just up on the board and once competent, will check out the other knots. You've got that much power/de power with those annoying adjusment toggles, that,if ya learning,IMO knot position wouldn't be hear nor there. If I'm incorrect in that assumption, can someome tell me why(and when) I should adjust me knots?
I just do knot have a clue.

On a lighter wind day put it up to the highest knot basically by doing this you are shortning your rear lines giving you more power, on the windy days put it on the longest knot this gives you 'not so powered up' situation making your back lines longer. im confusing myself now[}:)]

OK,

IN THEORIE you'd deviate from the middle knot up in light winds so you can pull in a little more and have more power on average and you'd pick the lowest knot to depower more, i.e. riding w/o your arms stretched out. The latter you can achieve with the trim strap as well,
and

PRACTICALLY if you go on the lowest knot rather than using the trim strap you can't undo that setting and might end up underpowered (happened to me, was slightly gusty and I thought it was stronger) and going on the upper knot I often pulled in to hard in light winds and stalled. So none of these other knots really ever worked for me.

Disclaimer: This is me. I might be wrong.

i always use the farthest knot away from the kite at the moment. i don't move them towards the kite in light winds as Steve is spot on the kite stalls on you when there is too much tension on the back lines in light wind. After using the kite for a while you may find there is too much back line tension even when you pull on your red depower. This is likely due to your front lines stretching more than your back lines over time and i would suggest removing the close to the kite knots one at a time to regain your zone. I like it so when the strap is out full in moderate wind conditions, if i pull in full it may just start to stall. Then i may pull in the depower an inch. I also put a plastic ball or two between the bar and the chicken loop so unhooking the kite doesn't stall.
