A 1 kite quiver will cover 75% of your sailing, & more as you gain experience. Go a bit on the smallish side. With a TT for the top end & a old surfboard for the bottom end. As you get better you'd always be winging about the slow turning speed of your big kite anyway. Then you can afford the best.
Another option, get 1 reasonable 2nd hand set up as your light wind kite, and then a new kite, kite only, as your main kite. I know Griffin sell "kite only". I've heard only good reports of them.
Either way you benefit from the performance, safety and reliability of the latest gear. Don't buy gear more than a few years old, you'll learn slower, hurt yourself more & have more frustrations with repairs and with untangling lines after a swim to shore. The newer gear is just that much better!
