... wow, makes our 46 knot squall look tame now.

Mate and I were out on 14/12m kites when a squall hit, we tried to ride it out but had to punch out and go to safety. Lucky too, a couple of our gromms were also out, I yelled at them to go in, but they had one more run so I yelled again and they went in. While waiting for the beach to clear of the two boys, woooompa! I see mates kite go down and seconds later I had to hit my punch out too, kite got so distorted that it stopped steering, lucky the old 5th line safety works!!

We're just getting to the end of the effects of those lows now, had 7 days straight of wind and waves, wooohooo, good luck QLD.

cheers,

Robbie

... it was crazy, even with kite resting on the 5th, the wind was violent enough that it sort of propellered a few times, but essentually stayed on the water. Something I did find, when I had the safety leash fully extended and kite pulling hard, I stuck my foot on the leash and pushed it down under water and kite stayed on the water better, but when held by the hand (which is essentually on top of the water), the kite would get a bit of air under it and pitch up quickly, holding it down at a lower angle helped! Still,,, was fun!

cheers,

Robbie
