I'm soon to be moving to Perth from the UK, before I get there I'm trying to sort out my quiver of kites and wanted to know if I should be including a 7m? I'm don't know what kind of wind stats you get but I've been told it's stronger than here. I'm 85kg, an intermediate and have a 9m already. Any advice would be good! Cheers.

@ 85kg You wont need anything smaller than a 9m for Perth as that size is the norm most good SW summer sea breezes, but it wont hurt to have a 12m either!!!!!

If you intend to head North of Perth the 7m will be a handy kite to have with you!!!

Go for a 9m 11m and 13m F-one impacts

check out RAL INN (user name).
he was way cheaper than Euro advertised prices.

Freed.

According to the charts this one could get interesting. I've got a couple of tea towels that should fly well in the maelstrom. Only prob is that I don't know where I'll end up!!

Hi Inorbit.

I don't think you will need a smaller kite then a 9 for Perth. A 13 would also work well.

Check out this site for wind rose stats.

Its blowin' 40 kts at the moment and i'm really not that sure if i want to hold onto anything that resembles a kite at the moment. There has to be a cut off point where you sit there and say, thats just radical time for a beer.
Me and Gruezi kited Dirk Hartog Island last weekend, first ones woooooooooooohhhhhoooooooooooooooo.

you often get 20-25 knot arvo breezes in perth... as you head north keep adding a few knots. gero hits 30 plus plenty of times, lurch aint joking when he says its caining up his way either.

you will use a 7 if you have it, i mean, bring all sizes from a 5-14 or so and you will get a run on any of them, add a larger 17+ and the light days are covered.

id take a 7, 10, 14, ~17 and kite any time i wanted.

was using a 7 today at pinnaroo when dudes were coming in on 9's cos it was too strong... gusting up to over 30 knts. But I think on the rare occasion this would happen, it would not be worth carting over a seven, just go to the pub instead!

7 & 12 in bow kite style will do everything here: 12-35 knots for 85 kg on 142 with intermediate skill....IMO.
