ANY ONE KNOW OF ANY SHOPS/SCHOOLS/CONTACTS IN BALI OFFERING BARGAIN PRICED KITE STUFF ?
WHAT'S THE KITING LIKE IN BALI ?
I'M PROBABLY TOO INEXPERIENCED TO KITE OVER THERE BUT WITH THE EXCHANGE RATE I WAS HOPING TO BE ABLE TO BUY SOME NEW KIT AT GOOD PRICES.
ANY PLACES THERE THAT HIRE KITES OR GIVE LESSONS ?

Hey Daggy,

There is only one place that I am aware of that sells and does lessons etc. The Blue Oasis Beach Club in Sanur, it is run by Mario. I don't think it will be any cheaper in Bali, unless you buy a Balinese single line kite, but they dont turn or boost!

There are a few good spots to ride either in surf (reef breaks) or small beachies at Kuta/legian or Sanur which can be sketchy at low tide due to coral just below the surface .

Bali has a very short season and doesn't blow that hard generally 12-15knots with some days around 20kn.

Check it out and make up your own mind.

Blue oasis run a good operation at Sanur like Kitehard mentioned.
The expat kiting community is growing in Bali and the guys always constantly update their gear, so you might get lucky on a 2nd hand rig. Bali can be great for wind but it can be fickle. Best chance for Bali is after July. The south coast of Lombok gets windy from as early as May but its more hardcore there(dangerous in and out of the water).Look out for benchongs and you never know, could turn into the kiting adventure of a lifetime. In Bali you can kite all afternoon and go clubbing all night so dont burn out all in one go.
