hey wave slave & surgeon,
do you thnk it is a good idea to put your head in the sand and not comminicate with these guys? I did speak with the tour operator in person at the beach (which I agree is by far the best way to communicate). But this guy is obviously pissed of with dickheads jumping in front of his customers. As far as his concerns about kite surfers "owning the beach etc. I think that is more just his frustration... its not exactly a crowded beach! I think if we keep talking with these guys, and also speak with to the out of towners etc who dont respect our local, we should have no probs. We all know that newbies are going to do the catapult thing... hey we all went through that... so lets just be honest about that and TALK through the issues. As a kite boarder and commercial operator I'm not going to hide the issues because thats how I will be sued. I get every retailer who sells Sandgroper kites to sign a form that they will recommend that newbies get lessons and join AKSA.
This brings up another point... there has been talk on this web site about errecting signs at popular kite boarding beaches for years, I have seen no action on this in Rockingham. Has WAKSA actually created something or done anything anywhere else re this? It would be good for the non-locals and other beach users who visit our area.
