Sup all.

Ive got a 10m boxer with the standard 4 line bar, and am really struggling to keep the kite at 12 overhead. It will stay there for a second or two, and just fall LE first into a spiral, from which sometimes i can recover it, and sometimes not.

It seems to happen regardless of the wind speed, as i was out today at melville, where it was totally going off, and the kite was still falling out of the sky from overhead.
The obvious solution is to adjust the depower strap, sheeting the kite in etc... but this only leads to me being massively overpowered, and the kite still seems to want to fly further overhead, or sometimes behind me, where again, it falls.

Should i just avoid the position, and hover around 11 or 1??

Thanks in advance for ur advice.

hmm, if the wind is constant, no LEI kite should do this. With the exception of some of the "luff monsters" of the deep dark past of kiting, all good kites should be stable with no tension on the back lines.

I have heard legends of weight being placed towards the back of the kite to make the neutral flying position at the top of the window more stable and less likely to luff, either along the training edge of the kite or near the back line attachment points.

Did you get your kite new or second hand? IF it's new I would be strongly tempted to take it back for your friendly purveyor of quality kites to rectify the situation...

Naish are wonderful kites, however no kite should just 'fall out of the sky from overhead'... Unless you are underpowered, there are two things you can do...

1. Adjust the power strap to more power and not sheet in the bar as much (which is what's causing you to be massively overpowered when you power the strap and sheet in)...

2. Check the length of your back lines and makesure they are the SAME length when at 1/3 power on the bar... (aka the ones on the outside when u lie them down-red ones.)ie... \||/ The reason for this is that firstly your kite should not be 'flying behind me'... if it is flying behind you, your back lines are too short, and causing it to pull bacwards and you loose power...

Their the only two things I can think of suggesting... and also the knot you are attatching your lines to on your kite can also cause your back lines to shorten... Check with who you bought it off or another kiter at your spot when their free...

All the best mate
