My kite was pulled out of my hands and my 5th line saftey broke. Kite blows out to sea I swim in I ring a mate and he goes home and gets jet ski and rescues kite 2ks away. While my mate was rolling up kite at sea a lifeguard car towing jet ski want past.
It was about an hour after loosing my kite, and because we saw lifeguard someone said I should ring up police and tell them I was alright and I did. Then the rescue helicopter turns up. A while after that the police want to talk to me. They are not happy and said I should have allerted the authorities earlier. I should have, although I did not think as I did not ask to be rescued.

Lesson: If people see you in trouble they might and hopefully will call authorities( even if you have it all under control) so it would be a good idea to let those same authorities know that you are allright.

DAMN! Are they charging you for the rescue? In NSW helicopter is classed as ambulance so if rescued your health care will cover it. We pay ambulance premiums in our electric bills up here in QLD so our rescues are free

if you leave anything over a period of time on the beach that can be interpreted as used for ocean activity it will eventually involve some form of rescue or law service investigation of having to look into it (if reported).

has fk all to do with anything but makes me sound knowledgeable .. well actualy I got dragged into a situation earlier this year with a kiyak laying on the beach for several days... could of resulted in a search and rescue because I was asked on the phone several times about it to make sure it wasn't castaway..one imagines police have far more important things to do than chase down ghosts! think it was kids in this case playing with the kayak...and probably stolen.

well it is good you posted this...as keeps ocean users aware of the systems in place for our safety and individual responsibilities to make sure we don't fk about those services.

I would rather see my tax dollars go towards more multinovas. ;)
