A few of us and some brissy kiters are thinking of meeting at nobbies this saturday for a barbie and downwinder (ie mainb to nobby's)via maxi taxis/cars. Just a bit of fun, everyone and all abilities welcomed. Spread the word to all that dont have internet. Bring a bit of coin for taxi/ burger and beer. Meet at the grassy area opposite santa monica/ marine pde around 1000 or when wind is up.
Dario, Brett, Luke and I did a Nobbies to Marina Mirage on Tues.
Great session. The Kite gods demanded a sacrifice from Dario and caused a hole in his kite after he got slammed and his surfboard was driven into the kite by the breaking wave.
Just went to shore checked the size of the hole and we continued.
wont you guys be doing your downwinder through hundreds of lifesavers finishing the paddle leg of the "cooloongatta gold"? that might be bad publicity if anyone stuffs up or gets in the way of a finisher in front of a giant media contingent on national tv with commentators. just a thought. have a great day, gotta work.
If so we shall contact everyone by 8am on Sat and Sunday will be the choice.
Greeny: Cooly Gold will be held on Sunday , the buoys will be 350mts offshore, race begins at 9am at cooly and should be to Surfers and back down to Burleigh by 11am, then they run leg will be up the beach which shouldnt interfere unless you bodydrag through the soft sand again.
everyone keep an eye on this post. might have to meet and have the barbie at 3rd ave burliegh. Starting the downwinder sth of surfers(to avoid all the flags). will let everyone know what time the bus will pick us up (should only be about $5 therefor no worries about finding parking near surfers)
That was bull****, pulling up in the second bus and seeing all the kites up was so cool! Ive had a few call this arv from non kite crew that were blowin away by the site of over 40 kites cruisin down tha coast! another one tomorrow from the spit if anyones keen!
I went windsurfing at Miami today, and was amazed at the 'cloud of angels' coming down the coast, I counted 35 at one point but probably missed a couple.
All very well behaved as they passed me, and quite a spectacle...
