Hi Guys + Girls,

Another Brit is going to be immigrating over to Oz trying to set-up a new life.....me. Will be landing in Sydney in Nov then traveling for a few months to get an idea where I'd like to lay my hat so to speak. Plan to travel complete East + West coasts and back down to Melbourne before I settle.

I'll check-out all the local forums on stops to get all the info on do's + don'ts....etc as I travel around.

To help in my first starry eyed days, any information on good backpackers near kiting spots + kiteshops in Sydney would be much appreciated, will be selling most my gear hear in the UK to get away from the rubbish Virgin baggage costs.

Cheers + see you out on the water.

Rich

Bugger!

Bloody Poms, cheat at rugby, then want to live here.

13th beach on Sunday, may as well been Blackpool, considering the percentage of Southern Pansies on the beach.

Yeah, you know when the Fremantle Doctor is still warm enough for boardies and the tide is low enough, the sky is clear enough and the sand is white enough to make the water that really pale aqua colour, I don't mind losing a rugby game or two if it means we got to be kiting in such conditions.

Grasping perhaps, but anyways...

Find it a bit rich that RAL INN is calling the poms southern pansies when he comes from much much much further south. Last time i looked the UK was quite a way to the North.

If u jumped in a jet and kept going southwest for 48 hours you'd end up in the UK now wouldn't ya? or would you reach the edge of the earth and fly off into space?

You would not end up in the UK. You would end up circling the south pole

To answer your question....

There is a really good backpackers at Collaroy,Sydney.

This is the Southern end of Narrabeen Beach which is a great spot in the prevailing summer Nor'easters.

Walking distance to a couple of kite shops and over the hill to Long Reef, another good spot, for the Southerlies.

Actually, if we're gonna get technical... you'd have to stop at the South Pole, because anywhere from there is in a northerly direction... but now we're getting uppity, aren't we.

the direction mentioned was SW so your compass would send you in a spiral towards the magnetic south pole. so at some point you may cross the geographical south pole.

The train out of Bondi goes through Brighton Le Sands. But Collory would be the better option, unless of course we get summer winds like we did last year.
