Hi,

Winter thoughts with broken ribs...

Does anybody could tell me if there is a predominent wind, inland (say 300km east of Perth) during winter?

I remember someone crossing Australia (Adelaide to Alice Spring?) on a mountain board a few years ago, so I guess there may be some wind somewhere inland...

Also, do you know if the big salt lakes inland are dry in winter?

PR, maybe you can help me on this one, since you opened a milk factory in Kalgoorlie?

Thank you.

Here is a snippet i found from a google search about lakes in kal and some wind info as well

"Camping - interesting sites include Rowles Lagoon, Burra Rocks, Victoria Rock. Water sports such as speed boats, water skiing, and jetskis are used at Lake Douglas, Lake Kopai and King of the West. Land sailing is held at Silver Lakes approximately 35 kilometers passed Kambalda on the way to Norseman."

Cwamit,
Thank you for the input.

I met someone from the country today. it seems that there is no consistent wind inland, only cold fronts, if they are strong enough to reach that part of the OZland, which does not seem to be the case at the moment.

It has not rained for a fair while over there, so salt lakes can still be expected to be hard flat white surface ...perfect for mountainboarding

Any additional input from persons from inland?

Cheers,

Fred

Hi guys,

Not too much for kite boarding up here (Kalgoorlie and surrounds) at the moment.
Rowles Lagoon is still a dust bowl at the moment.
A few dams still have water but not enough for for kiteboarding.
Lake Lefroy in Kambalda is currently too soft as it pissed down the other day so I can't take my kite buggy out there either.
Naff all wind during winter apart front storms.
Best time on the salt lakes for kite buggies is summer and it is too soft for mountain boards firm crust of salt but easy to break through into slimy mud.......
