Anyone done any kiting or know someone who kites in Exmouth? If so, best spots etc.... I'm heading up for a couple of weeks at the end of June and start of July and would appreciate some info.

Thanks,
Brett

hi Brett hope you share and disclose the good spots when you return, because I will be asking the same question myself for when I hope get up there in late July , been there before once but didn’t kite so cant help you and besides were I stayed wasn’t kitable because of the coral - turtle cove (or is it bay..?)!

You could email Daniel from kite addiction (just google - kite addiction), he goes up to Exmouth with his quiver I think around then too, having a commercial interest in kitesurfing I am sure he would be happy to point you out to the good spots .. You might even like to demo some of his brands if he is up there same time you are…. Anyhow good luck with it and don’t forget to share because you care - when you return - you lucky bastard!

The bad news is you will be too early.

It is a fantastic spot to kite, but the SW won't be there until September(ish)

In winter you will have some easterlies to kite on the gulf side, and the chance of a storm front to kite the ocean side.

Suggest you contact Lurch through the forum

Oh well if there's no wind I'll just have to bite the bullet and dive, fish, mudcrab or just drink a bulk load of beer.

I've gotta find a way of stashing the kite gear amongst the other stuff anyway since it's meant to be a family holiday.

Thanks,
Brett

Looking to get up there myself in mid August so any advice would be really appreciated. Will share with all on my return (unless its someones secret spot of course).

I just spoke to a man in the know and he thinks that August should be ok (not deffo, but what is?) for wind so if you can put your holls of a month or two you should go for it.

Now how do you explain that to the family

Hey Guys and Girls,

A group of us went up last year and kited everyday for over a week (as long as we were there) and that was in mid september. It was totally blowin it's ya yas off!

Probably blew in at around 25-35 knots everyday, VERY WINDY! The guys on their 6m Liquid Force were gettin spanked big time. Unreal fun, great big jumps and keen wave riding when there was a swell about.

About half way between the lighthouse and the entrance to the national park is a spot that has sandy beach, sand bars with waves and not a lot of rocks around which is good. There is usually a kiter or the odd sailboarder out there.

You can also kite most of the beaches in the national park. Pristine kiting in many of the spots. Exmouth goes off!

Have fun,

Hey,

Im comming over from The Neterlands the 23rd of june...than ill stay for one month till the 23rd of july....last winter i already was really happy with the wind in Perth. But i heard it schould be fine around june/july up north too.

I start @ Shark Bay aroudn Denham and the coast, than i go up north Exmouth...if we make it with our broken car lol. In sharkbay you have places where you have a nice side shore with east wind as far as i know.

Make sure you steer clear of Mangrove bay - full of stingrays.
