ok, hold up there big fella...
i did alot of sail repair when i helped out at a local sail maker years ago...
now with the dacron tape, make sure the area is perfectly clean, as it hates dirty cloth to stick onto. 2ndly when u tape the rip, go as wide as u can(dunno how wide the tape u got is), as the repair will be the weakest link on the kite. so run tape on both sides of the cloth, then stitch zig-zag on either side of the rip, then tape over again to cover the stitching, as the stitching will be subjected to wear and if you use normal cotton, it will rot in no time, so if you can, use some sail-maker's thread.
last but not least, at the start and end of the rip, double up the re-enforcing, as it will wanna rip more and more.
so basically: tape both sides, double tape the start and end of the rip, stitch the dacron tape to the kite, tape over the stitching, done!
