OK, I'm gonna come clean.

It's hard to write this, it has been quite an emotional decision, but it is about time that I confessed.

As few of you already know (that's what close personal friends are for) and as many of you may have always expected... Yes, I'm coming out of the closetted darkness (that is a Melbourne winter) and I am moving to Perth.

There! I've said it! My secret is out! I feel so free!

(**** it was good to tell the boss too!
)

What next Gawd knows, I might even buy a bow-kite!

Hopefully I can catchup with as many Melbourne based folk as I'd like to before leaving, a few beers are in order. Cheers.

PS Watch out Perth... The BOM is predicting cyclone AzzA[}:)]

Don't be like that PR, this is Melbourne we're talking about... it's so damn "metro" here that it's hard to spot the "hetro".

Anyway, back in my rural days, I discovered that rednecks don't want or need "loose living" folk... not when they've got poor relatives

Don't ask about the PFD!

It's more colourful than the kite, and it helps float his Balls.

Hey Azza,

Congratulations on finally seeing the light and moving away from that stinkhole... I moved to Qld a year and a half ago, haven't looked back once!

Just think, those nine months of winter every year are now OVER!!
No more getting strange looks on chapel street!

Mind you the pubs are good down there...

Come on Nebbian, it's not like Melbourne is the A-hole of Oz... mind you there has been the odd breeze when I was sure that I could smell it.

But, yes, those "strange looks" are quite disconcerting. Even the straight guys are checking out their mates rear-ends! It turns out to be a side effect of metrosexuality; they're just checking out the tag on your jeans.

well, you'll be able to sample the full range of kites over in WA - just wait until a junkie smashes a window in your car at the beach car park and nicks your kites, then claim insurance. bingo - new kites every two weeks

About that kite........ Did you build it from scratch?

I mean did you just go out I say to yourself I think I`ll build a kite today.

Even if the colour is a bit wrong everything else about building your own kite is extremely cool. I`m impressed..

Thanx glaucus atlanticus

it was from scratch (someone else's design though), my old kite fell apart... just like my old Ford, figured if I could rebuild one I could rebuild the other... the only original component is the bladders (The LE still has the original slow leak!) The dodgy colour scheme is courtesy of free off-cuts and cheap end-of-roll cloth from a sail-maker.

I'm hoping the move and new job will give me some time to muck about with something a bit more original in design... watch-out for an AzzA Kite at your local spot (the pilot would have to be a right kook, so you'd be safer upwind)

Azza actually posted a design of his own nearly a year ago and before we heard of Bows, that was remarkably bowish.

where is the pic?

Ah here it is, and now you can see azza in his helmet and pfd.

Congratulations Azza, a move to Perth is the best thing you could do to feed the addiction. I myself did it once and am starting to regret moving away. At least that gives me the opportunity to go through the excitement of moving there all over again after locating Dr. Livingstone. Visions come to me now of Safety Bay, Scarborough, Lancelin and many spots between and around them. Days on end of sunshine and 20-25 knots all afternoon. Damn malaria drugs, hallucinating again...

Hey Azza,

Good luck, you lucky bastard.
You know, I've been there last week.
On ANZAC day, we had a great time, and on Saturday, everybody said "no wind". I am waking on the beach at Pinaroo Point and guess what? 15 to 18 knots wind started to blow from nowhere!!!.
I got the greatest kitesurfing sessions there.
You will have lots of good days and fun there.
We will miss you here
