jericocoura in brazil. beautiful weather, awesome water conditions, and good strong wind.can do massive downwinder from cumbuco to jericocoura. takes about 6days.
this spot is so beautifull I kited there by myself for a few hours without doing any tricks, cruising around jumping high just for enjoying the view above and under water so clear and flat.
6 days haha im keen how much are flights over there? where would you fly into?? rio or what? spend a month in brazil kitesurfing.you fly to fortaleza, then a taxi(45min) to cumbuco. base yourself there. awesome spot to kite. downwinders from cumbuco to the lagoon(cauipe)are bloody awesome.and thats 7km. then get a group together and organize a downwinder to jeri. the big one. a guide follows you in a 4x4. time it right and you get 20plus knots everyday.they say the season can start as early as may. i was there in late september 2007. and it was still there in december.
really difficult to get there and stay there: either with your own boat or by plane, which has very low weight limit. the resort is very expensive.
the best is to have your own boat, or find someone who has one. I went there during a 3 weeks trip on an old catamaran and paid 30$ a day, we went from port douglas to cap york.
Easy! Where conditions are perfect. The wind is perfect and it's just you and your mates. And of course a lot of ice cold beer waiting for you when you've had enough kiting.
Noosa waters, on the sunshine coast, great long downwinders and or perfect flat water, many sliders if you're prepared to hit a boat or two. A little gusty sometimes, police often show up to watch, just a great social scene, make the news everytime as well.
Hey kitingcasey, I'll be down this weekend from NT, you keen to hit it up, I havent riden there in 3 years, always a thril, we can get lots of photos and show the croud
Pleased Dolphin Beach, Kite Beach, Sunset Beach in Cape Town got a mention - it's my back yard and my usual venue. Further up the coast are Kamers, the Steens and Hakgat, but the water is cold (full wetsuit) and the wind does not blow every day. Our season is the same as yours which may not help you.
Fortaleza coast in Brazil blows daily in their season, but apparently not much in terms of waves. I've had glassy 6 foot waves with dead steady good cross shore winds and warm water at Le Morne in Mauritius where you have a number of reefs you can pick. The water is glassy because the reef is above the water upwind which keeps the water smoooooth where you ride. That reef is called Manawa: waves can get big there, but there is an even grander ride at OneEye which is the same launch spot near the Indian Resort.
In the end, tho, it depends what you want and who you're with.
