I need ideas on re covering my worn out 04 kitebar.all the eva foam covering lifted along with the insulation tape over the top and became a big mess.so i removed it all back to the aluminium and im trying to figure out what i can wrap it with.Can you buy eva tape with a sticky back in a roll.any ideas?

Yeah i thought about that sort of grip(racket or bike handle grip) but not sure on how it would stand up to salt and sand.Sound like hydros may be able to help.cheers for that idea alby.

Hey Karl,

Drop into Airborne, Ian used to cover booms for a living and I know he has some boom grip over at Guthrie Street, if not at Howe Street.

He will also be able to tell you how to regrip professionally.

You are not alone captainkaos.

My North bar was bougth in March and is stuffed. Not happy jan.

THese things should hang together longer than that and it's about the 1 thing you can't find in a kiteshop.

seem up to the job but I've been in touch with them to get a quote for grip but they haven't gotten back to me. They are in NSW.

Hydrodynamix is definately the best option.

They heat both the bar and the EVA which helps with getting a smooth finish and a perfect closure. It takes a lot of practice to get it perfect and the right tools certainly help.

For guys that do want to do it them self, Airborne Kitesurfing does have EVA, but be warned it can get messy.

Buy a kit from a kite/windsurf shop and cover it yourself. I did a few when I was making my kite bars a few years ago.

Regripping a kite bar is a piece of cake compared to regripping a boom.
Same method and materials, just less tears and sweat.

Thanks for ideas.Hey axis,whats in the kit?is it in sheet form or like a tape?does it have stiky back?What materials do you use for a boom pete,have you ever re gripped a kitebar?

Yeah, I regripped mine last year.
Next time you're passing thru Mandurah I'll fix your handle for free.
It's easy, the hardest part is scratching off the old stuff.
I've got all the materials.
(All you need is boom grip, contact cement, brush, knife and sandpaper.)
