Blo dy Hell !! Great (don't drop any wrappers on the way)

Tell us more -
RU thinking of going soon (We have just finished winter!!)
What is the likely distance?
(Google earth Wilson's prom to Bridport 220kms looked shortish!!!)

What speed is the plan geared to?

What support boat ? (you could be holding 20-30 knots!!)
What sort of break cycle are you going to use?
Are you carrying much on you?
What size kites v's wind?
Give us a run through of training to be up to a gig like this.
RU going to be able to record enough of it to make a review? If so what kit RU using ...

The questions go on... If U have the time love to know more...
Anyway sounds fantastic may the swell/wind/and forecast (basically Yoda's energy bar) be with U

probably Wednesday looking at the forecast? Who knows its' all mysterious

Should be a 3-4m swell running with 20-30+ SW.

Dunno how the rescue boat will keep up. They will probably do 250km in a straight line and around 100km up and down the swell!!

Good luck you mad men!

Perhaps they'll bring out a Red Bull Snickers Mega Lunch Bar to celebrate?

I reckon you'd need a prescription to buy a redbull-snickers mega bar. It would have 50,000 calories and half a litre of pure caffeine.

The missus says she heard on the radio that they had headed off from Cape Grim this morning. Nothing new on the net since Monday.

SW-WSW 15-38 knots at the various stations. Should be a hoot for the boys.

Just read an update on The Mercury...

www.themercury.com.au/nocookies?a=A.flavipes

"TWO adventurers looking to become the first to kite-surf across Bass Strait are almost halfway to King Island.

Ben Morrison-Jack and James Weight, from Victoria, left Cape Grim at 7am.

A report from the support boat accompanying the attempt says the pair are tracking well and are in high spirits.

The latest estimate is that the pair will land at Apollo Bay at 7pm tonight.

Wind conditions have impacted on their goal to make the crossing in 10 hours."

I really hope they're going to make at least a short video or clip about the whole thing. It'd be great to see what level of insanity is required to achieve that kind of feat!

The news feed is coming from a sailing crowd so look under NEWS tab and sailing for info'

Apart from it being winter - would love to do a little pacing

Googled this path -- wow some downwinder!! They have to cover a decent distance.
Look forward to Great outcome - hopefully the support boat can exocet any blind shipping container boats - aka the disaster to the young lady just starting her gig to sail around the world

I had a Snickers earlier because of this sponsorship - Nice

From the Mercury:

September 09, 2009 11:42am

TWO adventurers are more than half way to Apollo Bay as they push to be the first to cross Bass Strait on kite-boards.

The pair, Ben Morrison-Jack and James Weight have passed the top of King Island and have 65 nautical miles to go.

The pair are travelling at an average speed of 13 knots.

They have been on the water for almost five-and-a-half hours and improved wind conditions mean they are now expected to land in Victoria at 6pm tonight.

Why isn't this bigger news right now?

This is the only place I've seen anything about it! Surely it deserves a few seconds on the news!?
