Well, I had no clue who you were talking about Float , that is until today... while I'm kiting directly in front of a sign that says danger no swimming , strong current( and guess what , there was no one swimming there) . Some1 Roars up the beach doing 50 and places a no kitsurfing sign another 100 metres upwind from me pointing towards my direction and 100 m from the no swimming sign, directly in front of the start of the REEF!.

which meant a 500 metre walk past the reef to the end to play in the rocks.

I may have gotten as close as 30 metres from the 3 ppl in the water , that were upwind of the flagged bit , but why the hell didn't the sign get put where the no swimming sign was, which would have had me 100 metres clear , instead of closing the beach to everyone!

I wonder if they will ever give any duty of care to us by forcing us to kite over the top of the reef!I guess it will take an accident and some lawyers first.

no definitely not.
The lifeguards have always been very approachable (they encourage it)in the area and if you have any issues I would also encourage you to have a chat to them .
by keeping good communication with the lifeguards and working with them we have managed to keep nobby's open for kitesurfing.they could simply do what other councils have done and thought "too hard" and stuck the "no kitesurfing on this beach" sign up .(and on all other NCC beaches .
I wasn't around yesterday but the sign that far north seems a bit excessive and I have raised the issue with them .It is a real concern for them, and they have no problem with kiting , but they want to allocate the most area for error possible .
keep the lines of communication open and positive .
Cheers

Sometimes I wonder if they put the signs where they do because they are worried that they will have to come and rescue us in crappy conditions, so the further up the beach (and away from their jurisdiction) the better. It's hard for them to know how unlikely it is that we will need to be rescued - 10 meters offshore in big currents is a lot if you are swimming but no problem if you are kiting, but maybe they don't realise that.
