I gave one of my friends a kite lesson on my 9m Rev over the weekend. She is only a bit over 5ft and picked up everything really quick and easy.
I am over 6ft tall and have go-go gadget arms so I can make use of the entire depower throw on the rev with the stopperball fully forward. She struggled to reach about half way.
She will be looking at getting some 2nd hand gear when summer comes back and I were wondering what the 8m Turbo Diesel is like as a kite?
I'm thinking a bow will suit her better because of her short reach.
Are there any other good cheap 2nd hand kites getting around that suit midgets well?

im a shorty 5ft and female,turbo to much bar pressure,switchblade 3 is great for me can reach all way to stopper,havnt tried pushing through because never seem to need it plenty depower,super easy relaunch, and when i get my SB 4s prob around sept aug i will have a 6m, 8m &10m for sale all A1 cond

I have a 07 Rebel and it has a fairly short depower throw (I think). Well its a lot shorter than my friends sonic and my other friends boxer.

Would a bow kite with pulleys on the bar - like a crossbow and TD2 - have better depower over a shorter range due to the 2:1 effect?

I bought my girl a brand new Airush DNA. But the 07's are exactly the same. Little chicken loop so they can reach out far. 3 struts to pump up and come in little people sizes. Worth a look eh.

I have a T2 11mtr which i bought as my second kite to learn with and i think a little bar pressure is great to learn with.. there is not so much it hurts just enough to let you know the kite is on the move.i also have a switchblade2 and i have flown my mates waroo.. all fantastic kites.. basically if you buy anything in a bow thats 07 or newer you are going to be happy.. and next summer you will find some bargins on second hand 07 kites.. everyone wants the latest and greatest..

Has anyone compared the TD (Turbo Diesel) to the T2?
TD's are an absolute bargain at about $400, but are they that much worse than the T2?

comparing the turbo diesel to the T2 is like the link to the rev. it took them a couple of goes to get it right.. the turbo diesel had a real problem with inversions and flying right over your head. personally i have never flown the turbo diesel but my mate has flown my T2 who used to own the diesel and he says its far better..and i cant say enough good things about my T2.. although it does have more bar pressure than my switchblade2.. but i kinda like a little bar pressure..

Have a look the NEW kiteboarding set up,
with the fifth having knobs on it you can pull it and hook it into a notch so that it has no pull and can be tuned so that it wont fall from the ski if you put in the right knob.
Also they are not using the 100% depower set ups like the Airrush flow and vapours i have tested were when you let go of the bar the reach is so long you have to pull the rope to grab the bar( not saying its a bad aplication). let go of a new bar(hooked in) you get your normal depower anyway and for tuning depower the strap is not hard to grab and then for gusts were you might let go of the bar trying to depower well ont he NEW kites you can reach for your 5th line safety leash and pull 30cm out of the fith line length hook it in and ride away. Of coarse the kite is then not properly tuned but its better the letting go of the bar(loosing control) or even worse tryign to ride out the gust in fear and end up with unjuries.

How about a North!
North bar allows three different settings enables to adjust bar travel without effecting the kite flying characteristics.
Personally I like the simplicity of Slingshot bar setup but I have to admit the North bar is well designed with high sophistications - just two different scales.
Also heard 08 North bar is the first one meeting the European safety standard - whatever that means.
