It all started back about Monday 11th Feb. Tools down and into it, ....easterlies by the truck load.
At our local favourite spot called The School Yard (Eagle Point on Lake King in the Gippsland Lakes) last Monday week, a good session probably bout 15 knot night, with bout 6-8 locals.
That evening Sir Walter (SW) and I decided that we would hit Marlo for a few days. Drove to Marlo next day and not a breathe of wind could be seen all the way until we virtually came over the last hill to see beautiful white caps lacing Bass Strait.
Wise old Wally (SW) new the drill, "better set up (the tents) now, .... be too buggered later" True words. 12m arvo in bout 15-18knots and we kited for bout 4-5 hours. Clint and Lee made the trip too and were also enjoying the different conditions. Dave Burton forgot about the fires for awhile too.
Wednesday and a repeat performance, but wise old Wally knew the drill again, ....."ya gotta have 12 hrs sleep when you're kiterin....don't disturb me till 10!"??? Well Clint and Lee didnt quite hear that and turned up at Sparras for their share of our brekky. They started at 11 while Wally and I tried to build energy somehow by just watching. Tricky business that, building energy by sitting and watching while the bloody sun keeps a sneekering round the bushes to fry your tootsies...anyway another great day was had, flat water in the entrance and mixed surf out further, all had a go at loosing a board in the outgoing tide, but mates are mates and we took it in turns to fetch each others board. Steve, Ryan, Henry, Nick, Mitch, Brian and Lyn and Lambie turned up on Fri/Sat. Lambie put on a great show on his SB, didnt even flinch when he disturbed a few ribs after going hard and big off a steeper one. Carnt tell the bride though can you Lambie, 3rd strike and Garage sale eh? Ryan and Steve cracked 35-37knots too.

Since those first 2 great days we have had continuous kiteing easterlies every day except 2 until now, and Sat and Sund look like more to come. Thats a fortnight now does it get any better?

The School Yard gets busy now with Wal complaining about having to park 30m from the water. He even barred up to Andrews kite by mistake, not used to crowds. Tonight we had 10-12 out plus 2 Euros, plus Linda in the kayak taking great photos.

Still trying to work out what looks most spectacular, Clint and Wals huge (15m at least) jumps or Brians slashing downwind carving gybe, looks like a continuous wall of spray!

Kiter77 what were your thoughts being lofted in the launch area yesterday on a 10m Core GTS? Looked worth a photo of you hovering just above the ground in the horizontal position, arms and legs outstretched trying to be heavier!! (I told you pies were worth it).

That 30knot wind certainly changed our little bay into ocean swell conditions yesterday.

Like he said^^

Not going to name any beaches, I got to live here but pick any South East facing beach and it will work in an Easterly. Make sure you check the tide charts though as most of the spots disappear during high tides.
