Folfs.

There are so many beaches to choose from and so little time to enjoy them so which in your opinion is a good beach to kite in the Whitsundays keeping in mind after kiting activities and costs of accom.

Tada.

Whitehaven.

The SE trades will be in full song by June.

Hamilton is reasonable and has regular boat trips over to Tounge Bay/Whitehaven.

There is also a less expensive place at the observatory at Hook Point.

Otherwise stay on the mainland and day trip it out.

I think Bec Nicholson et al (traqua.com.au) do organised trips.

have fun,
Mark

I'm over at airlie beach at the mo (visiting from perth). We've had some good winds. Good beaches on the mainland are Conway's and the beaches around Bowen. Also seen guys going off at Midge Pt, near Laguna Keys. Be careful around Conway's though as a 2m croc was spotted the other weekend stalking a fisherman! I still went out. Huge tides at Conway's and Midge (like 4m), Bowen has beaches which work in most directions, conway and midge work in anything with a little bit of easterly.
At least you'll miss out on stinger season! I've never gone out in 30deg weather wearing so much!!!

Whitehaven beach at Hills Inlet, is awesome. That's the only spot we kited while at the Whitsundays, I don't know where else you would kite. There are not a lot of beaches around the islands, except for at the resorts. I remember being surprised at the lack of tropical beaches first time we went. The islands are actually very rugged, but beautiful, not totally surrounded by white sandy beaches.

Bowen is a great spot, 40 minutes north of Airlie Beach. A sleepy little town but great kiting destination.
