Hi all!

I am heading to Australia at some point during 2009, probably end of August, and I was wondering where the wind would be good at that time of the year. I did find some generic wind info on various sites but nothing compares to some local knowledge. Any suggestions? I will be going to Melbourne for sure to visit some friends but can really go anywhere as long as the wind is good. Is there perhaps a better time to go in general? I am pretty flexible but would like to get some solid kitesurfing down (Quantas is having an amazing sale right now so I am just quickly trying to nail down a good time to go).

Winter time (August is heading towards the end) there are trade winds in North Queensland...

When summer hits (December onwards) Melbourne and Sydney get seabreeze's but not as reliable or as strong as in WA..

Mate as stated earlier, head to nth queensland in august . Great weather good wind. Nth qld is paradise at that time of year. From the sunshine coast(sth qld) down the east coast to the victorian boader you will get gusty westerlys at that time of year. they can be fun to kite in if you get a good day in the right location, but they are inconsistant so you may get a week of good wind followed by 2 weeks of rubbish.
