Hey guys and gals I am moving to OZ/Canberra and I am looking for places to kite on the coast as close by as possible with reliable/ish wind.
1) I have to live in Canberra.
2) I understand it may be a long drive for a session.
been kiting 5 years moved from brighton UK to NYC and now to Canberra
Seems like I am getting futher from the sea .
I am considering getting a land board as well and finding some parks for local sessions if the wind in Canberra is not to gusty ?
any help would be great thanks.

I think you want to be looking for Lake George (?) if you wanna go land kiting. As I understand it, there's a pretty good kite buggy/land board following down there.

Just search 'Lake George' for a recent discussion, not too promising though.

From Canberra you'll be approx 2hrs from Batemans Bay and within a further 1 hr north or south there is a whole range of magnificent beaches. You couldn't go wrong in winds from Southerly through to nor'easter. Driving will be a pain but pick your days when the winds up.

Great part of the world explore and enjoy it.

Canberra used to have a couple of guys that would go out on the eastern part of Lake Burley Griffin. Here is a old link from my time there, so you may get something from it.

Lake burley Griffith sounds as gusty as some NYC spots. Good to have an option in canberra but Would be good to hear about some NSW spots in the area
