I've used one since day one and it made life that bit easier; especially in deep water. Just to have a some bouyancy when trying to relaunch etc saves having to try and tread water. Also helps a bit with starting off on your board the first few times as you can get yourself into position easily.

As a bonus it also gives you some protection from any knocks.

I still wear mine today.
