I think C kites are better and I ride bows, but I think that manufacturers make the mistake of thinking every rider wants a high performance kite or a "better" kite. C kites are more "precise" turn faster and in the right hands a pro would ride them better but the average rider will have more fun and learn more on a bow/sle. The average ride wants a comfortable kite that makes it easier for them to handle the gusts and improve their kiting ability. The average kiter will never do massive unhooked kiteloops with handle passes and those who do will probably stay on C's.

Its kind of like having a 2 seater sports car as a family car. Its fun to ride, but most of the time you need something a little more practical because you can't race around all the time.

Just my opinion...

That makes sence.. bows are crap... c kites are buckets.. so go take a crap in your bucket...which means bows are better because you need a crap for a bucket to be of any use.

Hey Kiters,

Why is everybody so uptight and defensive about what others are riding. Who cares what KW said or did? Too many people living in denial and very insecure about their riding and their kite choice.

If you ride it and you like it, then it's perfect for you. Forget the dammed hype and just figure out how you want to ride and what you want from a kite, then make a choice and be happy, or if not happy change it to one that makes you more happy.

Be the soul kiter and carve your own groove!

Good winds,

Well said Big "D"! Too many opions made without riding the kites. Go try some kites then comment!

I can't wait for Naish to release their 1 line daffy duck pro model, itz gonna be sick!

BTW, had a sick session on the 12m Rebel yesterday. 15 - 18 knott Nor-easter (first for the season). Kite was excellent, very predictable, stable, turned super fast, steering was very light, by far the easilest kite I've ever relaunched! I dumped it several times and it relaunched with out any hastles. A little bit too much depower for my liking though, I would probably tie the chicken loop really short to stop it sheeting out if I was going to ride it.

Smile & have fun!

YUP. AGREE.
Everyone seems to want to be right, like if one's taste could be relevant of others....
This talk is getting oh so old, it's always the same with each single new kite coming on the market... A "good" kite doesn't mean the other ones are ****, "x" doesn't have to be BETTER than "y" (this is the worst sale argument ever... talking down about a brand or model to built another one up....) and the fact that a kitesurfer likes a particular kite doesn't mean the other ones aren't OK...
I've never been into bow's for many reasons, I personally wouldn't get one, but matter of fact, some people do like them in spite of me not getting it, and it's all good.
How borring would this market be if we didn't have the choice???
I am convinced the right kite is the one you feel good with and that's it....
Different riders, different kites, variety to make everybody happy: hey, life's beautiful guys!
-so stop arguing (or "ride more and type less".... ) -

Now JB, are you gonna let me try the baby or you gonna keep me jumping up and down for another two weeks?????
-I do know the answer but, hey, worth a shot mate... ;-) -

I think it's got something to do with nature sports. Skiers got upset when boarders came along. Hang-gliders got upset when paragliders came along. Short board surfers get upset when anything else comes along.

There seems to be a streak of conservatism where one crew thinks they own a sport and they don't like anything new and think it is crap.

The funny thing is that often it is the younger crew who are more conservative.

In kiting you have all the C-kite, unhooked, boardies over the wettie crew telling everybody else that they're doing it wrong, that their kites are crap, that everything anybody else does is gay. I guess people cling to a difficult way of doing things to prove that they are more skilful than anybody else.

Personally I like to do stuff. You're either kiting or you're not. If You are out kiting and having fun and not hurting anybody then everything is fine. If using a bow kite helps you to do that then that is really good. So far my experience and almost everybody I kite with have found that using bow kites makes kiting ridiculously easy.

If you're sitting on a beach because the wind is too light or the water is too choppy or the wind is too gusty for your C-kite then you are missing out on a lot of fun.

Danza, Yes I have a 9m Torch, but i have not had the chance to ride it due to lack of wind and me recent acheivement in cracking the 100 kgs! I don't have a raven though, they will not be ready for a bit yet, but I will be sure to let you all know my thoughts.

Em, you are free to get the Rebel off me if the wind is on and I am not riding! I will swap it for the Boxer!

JB

Danza, I believe the Raven will be released in November, maybe a bit earlier. But the best thing is to keep in touch with your local Naish dealer, I will be letting them all know as dates come closer!

Yes the Rebel is probably one of the best kites I have flown, great power, ...., ...., ...., .. you know all the stuff! Just not my cup of tea!

Speak soon,

JB
