I've been broken in to whilst out on the water, and saw them do it, and it made me the angriest I've ever been - I understand that it's a hot topic - but PLEASE - racism, swearing and abuse are not welcome in this forum.
dang i missed it (the angry posts). I too have got so mad about being broken into, but after a few weeks it wears off. Stereos, wallets, kites, cds, tapes, car manuals (!!!!), all on separate occasions. Meh, I should feel sorry for them because I was out kiting and they weren't.
I have an unemployed friend who for a small fee could sit near the car park and keep an eye out for 4 hours every afternoon. If a few crew get together and put in a few dollars each,everybody could be a winner.
You guys obviously haven't had enough stuff stolen from you yet. I have had my car and house broken into, lost thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff each time, I've lost kites (3), boards (2), bags (2), wetties, CD player, stereo, TV, Computer, CD's, video games, a laptop, cameras etc etc the list goes on and on. My insurance premiums have gone up, my house was damaged and personal items left to me by my late grandparents were stolen from me. It cost me a bundle to repair my damaged house and vehicle and then cost thousands more for added security.
I only earn enough to get by these days, so losing anything is a huge setback. If the police would get off their lazy arses and do something, we may not have such a problem.
Please, with all due respect, don't tell me not to get pissed off about thieves. On top of all of this, just last night in Redhead Beach, Newcastle, I had a collapsable picnic table stolen at night from within the caravan park. Just another item I didn't need to lose.
So if I see someone breaking into a car and I happen to have a baseball bat in hand, I will take care of matters my own way, I'm sick of it! Who knows, it may even be your car!
Laurie was refering to Woodman's Point in Western Australia. It's about 15 kilometres southwest of Perth on the coast in between Fremantle and Rockingham.
One of thee most popular Kitesurfing spots in Perth due to it's good quality winds,strips of flat water and Convenience to the locals.
So let me be a true blu Aussie and say G'day and if you were thinking of going to 'Woodies' then let me just warn you about the high amount of car breaking-and-entering.
Kitehard I wish I could say something for you But I just don't know what to say about your situation because It's much worse than mine.
Keysey you put a tear to my eye because I think you are on the right track. A person or better yet a group of people out there voluntary or paid to protect peoples cars but also take care of the safety of the poeple who are still learning to kitesurf as even on the day I was robbed, I also observed some people nearly killing themselves because they were launching their kite in the power zone.
AndyC your ideas I thought were good until you got to the part of Carrying the esky. Why? Because what we are talking about is for the safety and protection of everyone. Not the personal slave for everyone. But yes it was funny!
What I'm thinking now is perhaps the services of the WAKSA need to change a little so we can have identifiable volunteers to help the learners, (after they have done Kitesurf lessons)people to keep an eye out on cars in popular kitesurfing areas and finally but most importantly people actually walking up and down popular kitesurfing beaches to try and sign everyone up with the WAKSA making sure that everyone has insurance.
Whill thay brake in to you'r car if you raite a note that it says a got a gun an if a see enybody braking into my car a will shot them down??? A fell sorry fhur you duds that NEWER hapens in Norway!!!

The other ideas about WAKSA just came to me at spare of the moment but will take some time before somthing comes of it, if anything at all but I for one hope there is.I think ideas will need to take heaps of time to develop for something this big.
May need to start a new topic in the WAKSA area but also make sure John Geyer (SOS shop owner and WAKSA leader) has been keeping up to date with these posts and see what he thinks.

FOR NOW POEPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN HAVING THIER OWN CAR BEING LOOKED AFTER WHILE AT WOODIES KITESURFING PLEASE SHOW YOUR INTEREST.
It would be great to be able to leave my car at woodies confident in the knowledge I'll return to it untouched. Haven't had a problem at Woodies yet (touch wood) but have had serious heartache at Mullaloo, $800 worth of new locks for the house. I have a few spare $ for someone prepared to keep an eye out.
Front page of the West Australian today, 1.1.04, caught my eye in light of this thread. I don't have it in front of me right now but the police talking about how they patrol and operate said to the effect "It is important to not forget about the minor things whilst chasing the major things" and "we don't want to be discriminatory in what we do and don't patrol". Makes me wonder how they can say that when all our 'minor' break-ins get so little attention from them...
i think that the idea of baby sitting is a good one, however, what happens if someone doesnt want to pay?? Perhaps the fee may be covered by a WASKA membership??
It would be great if we could get kite surfing car park attendants, but we would need to get one for every area. I have heard about break ins at Mullaloo, Pinnaroo (I have experienced this one first hand,) Scarborough, Woodies, Penguin Island, Lancelin and the river, and these are just the areas I have heard about. We should hit CES up about a work for the dole scheme,as there would be enough work for a decent amount of people. I currently leave my car totally empty with the windows down and a club lock on it, I am at a loss as to what else to do.
