Hi Crew just to let you in on some developments
Good work to all of you who have taken the time to write a mail to badger the police and councils on this matter.
I got contacted by the Police today (wondering what I had done...) but it was a courtesy call to reassure us they are now taking steps to try control this problem (specifically at leighton), and was told I should receive a letter from M Roberts as well. Sounds like they are getting tired of the mails etc.
I think the others (from pinaroo and other hot areas)that wrote will probably get a simmilar call
Just need to make enough noise good work all

Top work! It's amazing how a few dozen potential voters can get the polies to extract the digit in an election year... keep at em tho as goldfish have better recollections than most polies.

Looks as though the state member for Freo Jim McGinty has written to the police asking what can be done.
Just received the following in the post from him -
Thankyou for you correspondence ...
Similar correspondence has been received by Police from a number of people who appear to be affliated with WAKSA who have initiated a campaign to better protect their vehicles whilst enjoying their chosen sport.
The areas raised that appear of concern are Leighton Beach, Woodman's Point, Scarborough, Cottesloe and Pinaroo.
South Metropolitan Police District has been aware of the problem being experienced by kite surfers and as such has initiated convert operations at Leighton Beach and Woodman's Point aimed at apprehending those responsible. More regular patrols have also been initiated aimed at detering those involved.
Policing Districts along the coast have been contacted and have prioritised patrolling of identified trouble spots.
I have instructed our Crime Prevention Unit to attend Leighton Beach to review signage placed within the car park outlining the "Look, Lock, Leave" philosophy.
A review of the crime trends will be undertaken to assess the impact these measures are having with a view to implementing further initiatives, including the use of surveillance cameras, if the need arises.
I trust the information provided clarifies the position however if you have any further concerns Inspector Gary Budge can be contacted direct at the Fremantle Police Complex on 9430 1295.
Yours Sincerely
FJ Brandham
District Superintendent
