Have modified quite a few bridals myself over the years but usually to convert an extra long bridal to a mini bridal,I would only reccomend if you know what your doing ,the short answer to your question changing the attach point by an inch is going to make no real difference.
However shortening the whole bridal to a mini bridal will increase the reactivity of the kite ,to do this you have to be careful to keep the attachment point in direct line with the existing attachment point or you will change the kite totally.
For example if you shorten the bridal and move the attachment point more toward the tip of the kite it can increases power output and makes the bar heavier,if the attachment point moves closer to the centre of the kite then you can get the opposite effect power decrease faster pivot and lighter bar.
I have usually made up a completely new bridal in the past out of bridal line I have sourced so that you can always go back to the standard one as a reference point.
Before you start it's best to map out the old bridal on paper and then draw out the new bridal keeping the attachment point in line with the old one but moving it toward the kite.
Or it may be better just to upgrade to the new model

If the attachment points are similar on the new model you could always buy a new bridal to retrofit to your kite.
