If you're referring to the civil unrest, I doubt it because it seems to be happening at night.

It is disconcerting though and I would hesitate to bring my family there now because of this.

Shame on All for their rioting. This is no different to cowardly terrorist tactics of hit/run and hide......

Why can't we all live in peace ????

A sad state of affairs indeed.

I would avoid cronulla (or anywhere else in the shire for that matter) if your suntan makes you anything darker than a sheet of photocopy paper, if your hair isnt bleached blonde, you don't have an australia cross tattoo on your back, and you dont drive a ute with 2 dogs in the back. And your dogs had better be tough.

Brighton is likely a little dodgy for the opposite reasons, especially later, so it looks like dolls point is likely the safest place to go.

The kite kooks still abound on the beach and on the water at Dolls though...

We had a good turn out to our BBQ on Sunday for NSWKBA. Let me add that no one really knew about the riots in Cronulla till later. There are heaps of Middle Eastern Folk that frequent Doll's Pt. Mainly they bring their families and have BBQs and are quite reserved from my point of view. I have never had a problem.

I saw a handfull of kiters there today at Brighton. Seems like the dirt bags only come out at night anyway to cause trouble. Kinda like most vermin on this planet.

However after seeing the carnage happening now I would'nt go to Cronulla/Maroubra if you paid me. I am a dark skinned person of asian decent and Catholic might I add. I would stand a chance explaining myself to a mob of rednecks the difference between me an a so called "Leb/wog".

All dark skinned folk are in trouble now because of this. Let me extend this to all ethnics are in trouble. Not all so called white Australians feel this way however if you venture into Cronulla or Maroubra you may reconsider.

I have lost my kite at Boat Harbour and the Cronulla life guards saved it. They are gold in my opinion and any scumbag that bashes a life guard isnt worth spitting on. For God sake they are volunteers.

I truly hope this is better policed. Our laws have serious loop poles that certain low lives regardless of race or religion like to challenge and with no retribution other than a slap on the wrist. Police have no real respect from crims and its about time they were allowed to do their job properly without fear of being sued or fired.

May God Save Us All

Brighton is fine, they're all Greek over there anyway. The lebanese gangs are coming in and causing trouble with the greeks aswell. It's been happening in Cronulla for years, I've been hit in the face myself by a gang and it's only because I had a group of mates up the road that I didn't get the crap belted out of me.

I'm not one to get into riots, and I think it's disgusting that those paramedics got hit with bottles for saving those Lebanese but what these guys in Cronulla are doing is nothing compared to what we've copped over the years. The media is only showing half the story. I'm working at Sutho hospital and it was closed last night cause of threats from the lebanese. On Sunday night police were called cause gangs were waiting at St George to belt people as they came into casuality. I know it's not all Lebanese but something has to be done about these gangs and the cops aren't doing anything about it. Too bad they won't fight fairly, the big groups are only gonna scare them away so they'll come back and hit everyone while they're taking kids for a walk or mowing the lawn. I've heard so many stories from Aussies that have been doing innocent things and been belted it makes me sick, nearly to the point that I feel like joining the guys at the beach.

Bah, I feel like hitting someone now. **** day at work, all these ppl getting belted is making the place busy.

PS. You'd be right Uber, there was an Asian guy cooking sausages down at Cronulla for everyone on Sunday I heard and he was a hero. I think it's just if you have bling, a wierdly shaved head, and walk around like your king **** that you need to be worried.

I think a major cause of this very ugly development has been the media!

I think the lowest scum in Australia is still the media and I think there is a case for a class action suit against 2GB for inciting the riots, by the people who suffered.

I say we take 2GB off air. 2GB reminded me of the Hutu (Rwanda) radio stations.

Why aren't the new terror laws being applied to them???
All I ever hear is how Al-Qeada is preping for this and that and how Muslims are bad and whacko. I haven't heard a single good thing said about them. It sickens me to think that a repeat of the Nazi/Jewish problem could occur.

What we have here is a war between the Western Media and Islam.
Go on try it out for yourself turn on the News and count how many times you hear Terror or Terrorism.

I'll shut up before I really get fired up.

Citizen of Earth.

all dark skinned people are not in trouble as Uber suggests. I am a cronulla local and not australian looking (sth american decent). i have never felt threatened or looked upon differently for not being a "typical" looking australian. in fact there are heaps of people in the area who are not "typical" looking australians.

people in the area are sick of the trouble makers that have been showing complete disrespect for a long time. all that frustration boiled over and sunday was the result. disgusting and as a local embarrising behaviour i know.

as far as Brighton le sands goes i would only be concerned if i was there packing up late at night. the lebanese gangs/groups of male youths have been causing havoc. they come in quickly cause heaps of damage and then dissappear (or get arrested) as i am sure you have all seen on tv. during the day things seem to be returning to normal in both Brighton and Cronulla (except for the strong police presence). A lot of guys were out at Wanda yesterday arvo in the southerly.

I was at Dolls over the weekend and a friend of mine was kiting at Wanda ....neither of us had any problems.

I felt more scared on Monday night when I stopped by a BWS on the way to visit a friend in Maroubra.

This current state of affairs won't stop me kiting my local spots, I'll just make sure that I don't drive through any areas of concern after sunset.

It's disgusting that even as I sit at work there are text messages flying around about "bashing each other" and I've also just read a document from a Surf Life Saving Club near Newcastle warning its members that their could be a threat to their safety this weekend.
This is totally sickening, it's the sort of thing I moved to Australia to get away from.

Just to inform everybody, I've had a couple of messages from mates and a lebanese friend tonight to steer clear of Cronulla on Saturday and Sunday night. I've already passed this on to everyone I know but apparently there are SMS's circulating that there are gonna be drive by's on both nights. Hopefully it's just a crock of **** but I wouldn't take the risk just in case.

These ****ing gangs can go **** themselves as far as I'm concerned and those of you who believe the media can **** off. We are Australians and if anyone blows in to our country they should respect the law or **** off. I've been belted myself, had mates who have been belted, and have been working with people who have been stabbed and had the **** smashed out of them and apparently we are the racist ones? Wake up to yourselves! This is not a racial war, it's a bunch of gangs trying to take over Sydney and they are getting away with it because they say Australians are being racist!! Whoever watched SBS tonight would have seen the pastor from Cronulla who saw a car get pulled over and the police emptied the car full of baseball bats and crowbars then let the car go while an Aussie has been sentenced to 4 and a half months in jail for fighting someone with a tree branch!!! Not the right thing to do but if that isn't considered double standards I don't know what is.

We had a local around here have his car windows smashed at a set of lights by a middle eastern gang and he drove about 15 kms to get away and they followed him the whole way home until his dad showed up with a matic ready to fight back, then the cowards drove off. And some of you think that we are being racist? **** off.

I want to start a tally of all the racist things Aussies have done compared to the amount of people who have been belted by gangs of middle eastern appearance and see who are the racist ones. I've added about a tenth of what I've heard, and not even all the stuff I know is true so make a decision when you've heard the full story.

By the way, one of my best friends (female) was walking last night when a hotted up car swerved and tried to hit her on the side of the road before she ran down a laneway. She's made a police report. That's my first of many...

And GalahOnTheBay, you have no idea on what's going on around here so don't bother adding your 2 cents. We've put up with this **** for too long and until you've got a metal plate in your leg from these guys don't even think you have an idea about anything to do with the shire. It's been happening for years and it's taken a bunch of yobos to bring it to someones attention and they are getting arrested because of it. It makes me sick.

One of the emails I've recieved.

FYI

Please forward this warning to everyone you know, particularly residents of Cronulla, and the Sutherland Shire in general.

I am not normally interested in spreading messages of fear, but I would never forgive myself in this instance if I didn't, with the majority of my friends and family living in the Shire. I have been advised that there will be a serious retaliation to yesterday's rally in Cronulla, this Sunday, 18 December in Cronulla, by several very large Lebanese gangs. The groups involved include the Lebanese gangs of Bankstown, Punchbowl, Auburn and so on. I have been shown the messages that are being sent around amongst these communities organising this retaliation, which include advising gang members to come to Cronulla "strapped", which means armed with guns, and I'm sure most likely more than that.

This is such a terrifying thought. Other than advising the police, which I have already done, I don't really know what else to do other than warn everyone I know, and urge you to also warn every single person you can, who lives in, or may be at Cronulla, or the Shire on Sunday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having been a resident of Cronulla for 10 years, I understand some of the frustrations from locals who live in the Shire with regards to the large groups of people, mostly males, of Middle Eastern background heading down to Cronulla Beach in gangs to intimidate others and generally cause trouble. I have been made to feel uncomfortable, harrassed and intimidated myself, on the beach by such groups. And I also understand that the cruel and senseless bashing of two Cronulla lifesavers last week, was for many Shire residents, the final straw.

But also, in saying that, with our real estate business being in Padstow - a strong multicultural area, we have dealings with many different types of people, and many different nationalities, including people of Middle Eastern background, both Christian, Muslim, Australian born and non Australian born, who feel very fortunate to be able to live in our country, many of whom have whole heartedly assimilated into our culture, and although they follow their own religions, still have respect for Australian culture and way of life. But I know that unfortunately there are also a large number of people of this background who do not.

I was really saddened by the extent of racial hatred shown at Cronulla on Sunday. Surely there must be something else that can be done to not only make Cronulla a safe and enjoyable place to be, but also to restore peace between these two groups, other than these extreme actions? Can there be a meeting between leaders or heads of each community to discuss how this can be sorted out...? Does anyone have any ideas? Because where it is at right now is unbelievably frightening

It gets worse! Middle Eastern Gangs from Melbourne are on their way to Sydney this weekend.

I dont blame your disgust in these people Jeff. I have the same problem in Leichhardt. A bouncer at a bar on Norton St was Shot in the stomach because he would'nt let a gang of Middle Eastern guys in.

I live in the Italian forum and my balcony overlooks the Balmain Rd side of the Forum. These people are amazing they have no respect for other people. They hang out parked under my balcony playin "Fitty Cen" so loud you can feel the bass in your own home.

My fiance went out on the balcony and told them to move on. They started screaming "F$#k off we're gonna come up there and rape you" I went out and told them to get lost, They then brought out baseball bats from their cars and throwing bottles at me. I called the cops and they came but they were gone. This was about 12mths ago. Spineless Cowards!

I dont have anything against most people but its hard to like these scumbags. Unfortunately these same minded people have caused massive damage in all parts of the world. New York 9/11, London Bombings, Paris riots. Now Sydney!

What do you do?

Uber.

To associate Lebanese gangs to New York 9/11 and London Bombings is just plain Redneck stupidity.

Most free countries have them, in America it's the blacks, Spain it's the Gypsies, France it's the Berbers. They are brought up in a dog eat dog world and if they have no brains they become dogs themselves. Society has 2 options put them in jail or split them up and improve their prospects, or put Ecstacy in the water.

The official versions of New York 9/11, Madrid and London Bombings are a lie, and anyone who cares to do some research will discover that. Ask Google what happened and read the other side of the story or wallow in your media induced ignorance.

Things that are happening in my opinion are designed to take away your freedoms, and the reason for that is a big one.

Peace and God bless Australia.

Dear Dear Flysurfer,

re:To associate Lebanese gangs to New York 9/11 and London Bombings is just plain Redneck stupidity.

I did not refer to Lebanese gangs. I refered to liked minded people. I did not refer to race or religion. Maybe you misinterpreted the reply?

I stated one case in which I personally felt the kind of intimidation of a certain style of human. If you wish to stand up for these people do so at your own will.

I would like to state my comments are directed to any human that terrorises any other human and reduces their lively hood to fear common access to any public place a low-life scumbag. I dont care where your from or what religion you are.

Hey up, maybe y'all should come move to Johannesburg where I live, it's probably safer. I live in a nice compound surrounded by 8 foot walls topped with electric fences and razor wire. The guards at the gate have nice big guns, as do the bouncers at the clubs, and a restaurant I went to the other day had gaurds with AK47s on each corner and another one at the ATM. In fact one of the little unemployed black guys who watches our cars for spare change while we paddle at my kayak club also carries, he showed me the other day when I was quizzing him how safe my stuff was. Nice chap, always drunk and stoned, quite funny at times.

I feel safe stopping at most red lights, even at night, as long as I stick to the right areas, and I haven't actually heard gunshots for a couple of months now, though I've been out on site a bit. Quite often now there are less than ten murders a week in Joburg reported on the radio while I listen on the way to work. You can keep Sydney, I'd rather live here.

Just to get back on topic for a second - ie Brighton, what do you reckon the risks of kiting there this weekend are? Obviously Cronulla and Maroubra are places to avoid, but what about Brighton?

I was there late on Sunday evening. Packed up in the dark and got a pizza across the road. Only found out the following morning there had been some violence in Bay St, I assume whilst I was still there packing up! Scary. What about this weekend? Maybe just stay north of the bridge eh?

Just kite, there won't be any trouble down on the beach, not for a kiter minding their own business.
I go up to Bay St to eat a lot, still will, maybe not on the weekend because of the crowds and parking issues though.
Wind look like it will be ****e for Brighton though, probably a goer for Kurnell though.

**** yeah, going to Sydney on Wednesday to spend time with family at Xmas. Would feel a **** load safer in the ocean at Cronulla than being alone in a car at a set of lights in Bankstown!
