Hey all,

Does anyone know where I can get info on building your own pump out of Plumbing pipes ?
Winds Suck now so gotta keep busy.
I understand white water rafting guys make their own pumps and big ones at that.

Does anyone know where instructions are available ?

Tried googling but know luck

Man you are bored, maybe you can help me work on my nonwind kite/wakeboard simulator.
So far i've figure if we get a 'flowrider' wave machine and maybe cut the wave part out so we have a flat area of moving water. then if we make some sorta super bungy kite bar and lines hanging down off a pole overhead. kinda like cable ski but without a lake and more like the pull/lift from a kite then a cable, it would allow you to do/practice either wakestyle or dangle tricks or whatever you wanted. The water would be shallow so we might need to use a 'special designed board' to allow you to still edge really hard. You would be able to make the surface that the water travels over soft for those bad landings. Now this will be quite expensive so now comes the hard part.....doin it cheap & backyard style....hmmm anyone got a hose i can borrow

if you had the outlet at the bottom it would only work when pushing down, is this right?
i know that the pipe will be cheap from somewhere like bunnings and it should be easy to divide the shaft.

Come and wash my car.

I will pay you $19.95 and you can go to a camping store and get a fully manfuctured pump (with a warranty).

This will save you a heap of hours and money on bits from Bunnings.

Have plenty of other housework to be done too if you are still bored :)

Find another hobby dude, there is no future in pump making.

i think the idea is to have a pump with a greater diameter to make it faster, i like the idea, should be easy to do and worth it for big kites.

But if you increase the diameter... you'll decrease the pressure that you can pump up to.. As most kites these days are on the taking pressures that are on the edge already (of what a 3-4inch diameter pump can put out) what's the point? Buy one of the new electric pumps and sort out your lines while pump fills the kite... Having a slingshot one pump helps there

Tape two pumps together and then tape a bar across the handles put both hoses into the 2 valves in the leading edge (if your lucky enough to have your kites like that LF's are)
Then pump like crazy leading edge goes up twice as fast and it costs you next to nothing.

Or just buy a foil and don't pump at all!

Good winds

Guys,
The idea is to make a taller pump not necessarily a wider pump.
And I have a house keeper that does the work so have free time to tinker.

So I guess no one knows how to make one.

I'm not making it to sell just for my own use.

Thats a great option. 1 improvement: Make the hose go from the 2 pumps to 1 hose. all you need is a 2 into 1 attachment. Probably get it from bunnings or plumbing supplies. This way you only need one valve.

Uber,

Been there and done that.
Does not work because you are trying to apply equal force on the two pumps taped together. Hard work.

Easier to...... MMMM spark !

I still have working parts but just broken handle !

Now off to the plumbing supplies to try this.

remove pipe from handle carefule not to damage thread !

Get a longer pipe from Plumbing supplies and seal one end just like it is on the bottom of your pump.

Get a aluminium shaft and longer internal pipe.

Remove old shaft from internal of pump as well as internal pipe.

Fix on new shaft and internal pipe to suit desired length of pump.

create thread for new plumbing pipe to screw on cap as per old pump.

Now you have a new longer and stronger pump that maintains the diameter of the old pump and is longer and has more volume.

I'm gonna try this as soon as I can and will let you
