Back beach is no good for learning on.. to choppy for most anyones liking due to lack of swell and always crowded.. To add to that it's not there at the moment........... Theree is a new sea wall being installed and the beach is mostly dug up and stockpiled so what's left is even more crowded..... anywhere in the eastuary is good to kite you just need to find somewhere that has a good launch. Just north of the Paris rd roundabout is the main kite spot. DON"T launch near the boat ramp where the windsurfers rigup go north of there 200m. Much safer and less people and obstacles.

If you really want to play in the ocean head south of back a couple of kms just before you pass over a small bridge there is a carpark that has a suitable beach. but be carefull of the rocks under the white water, they will shred your feet.. That's why it's not crowded with people though I guess

Last time I was there launch was a bit sketchy even in easterly-some rocks and onshore.
Spots like the Cut are sharky, too much dolphine **** around,If I was a learner i wouldnt hang around there.

Australind is the one of the best spots around for learning, beginner and expert.
Be very careful during extreme weather there is little warning.Use a good reliable saftey system of some type.Australind gusts have beaten up some experienced kiters.

Hey Ken how the hell are you? Still chasing Bunbury fillys like man on heat?

Hey Nathan, Your the porn star..................Apparently??? When did that happen? Couldn't pick up your own feet last time I saw you

Australind sucks these days.. just never any wind.. seems to be a dead patch..

The spot near the pine trees that Poor relly is refering too may be behind the old power station... south of the cut on the ocean side. If you get to the cut you can drive down the beach to it but it's VERY soft sand.. Really only go there in a due westerly as it's the only spot that is side shore in that wind.. in a souwester it cross off, straight into the shipping lane and the Yatch club have their race course pretty close to the beach. They ain't little Hobbie cats either, these boys will run you down then ask how your feeling afterwards.. But worth a look in the right winds on the right day.

Hey Nate was in Margs with the boyz today.. we were talking bout you after one of the guys broke a bar... Still droppin them at the bar??

Ciao Ken

And the sisters have settled down and gotten married (finally) even bought a house and furniture.. they were out shoppin for scatter cushions when I saw them today.

Watchout for those fillies.. they Bite and kick

I actually visited Bunbury for a family outing yesterday. Packed my kite and board just in case and checked out the likely spots.

Australind was extremely shallow. There was sand protruding from the water even 200m out. It looks like a nice spot but I hate to think how shallow it would be out there. What's the mud factor like?

The place I'd like to kite most would be the long curved beach east of the harbour, Koombana beach. Its deep within a few feet of the shore, curves around in a 1/4 of a circle. There was no water traffic yesterday, Easter Sunday. Best of all, I understand its full of Dophins and the locals told me that they keep the sharks out of the bay to protect their young. That being the case, you should not have to worry too much about large dark shadows sweeping towards you while your body dragging back to your board.

Back Beach looked pretty good too. As flat as a pancake yesterday but I can being open to the ocean I can see that it would get pretty rought. Launching on a narrow beach, with a steep sandhill behind supporting the road on top, would be pretty risky.

What's the truth about the dolphins? Do they keep the sharks at bay, or do they attract the sharks because of their young?
