heard the news about some experienced french kitisurfer getting totally beat down in bunbury on saturday. i hope he is ok now and can get back out on the water soon. don`t know the full details but with stories like these they ofthen get blown out of proportion . what i want to know is how windy was it, where was he riding and could anything have been done to prevent this accident.

anyone keen for kiting bunbury in the next three days

Heard on the ABC radio news the guy got beat up pretty bad, concussed & apparently taken to hospital.

Also heard that Western Power had to attend to deal with power line issues. Sounds like it could have been a shizel load worse...

thats was my thoughts exactly with not alot of wind forcast for that day
what happened
well of course the gusty nature of bunbury winds would have played a part but if
he was any where near hasties, the sand dunes there, and for couple hundred meters north provide plenty of lift for paragliders and even hangliders
if a howling onshore hits those dunes the lift the they generate keeps paragliders up all day

In the paper it said he was at back beach and landed in the power lines near Hastie St.. The two are a long way apart 3-4 kms or more.

My guess is that he was at Hastie street beach, there is a steep allmost cliff face dune there. the para gliders love it as do the model airplane crew (gliders). As I recall there was a paraglider lofted over the road and into power lines in the last year or two..

Anyways, not a good spot to launch at the best of times, as I recall it was a bit *hitty weather on Saturday with rain squalls and stuff.. I read elsewhere (wa today web site... see other post on the same topic) that he is an experienced kiter.

Fried frog anyone??

Hi all

it was me and it was not a kite surf but a paraglider. I caught a gust and gain altitude to the top of the dune then landed in a powerline. I dont remember all of it but I am fine now. I don't know why all websites are saying it was a kitesurfer when it wasn't.
I didn't get a lot of electricity which saved me I believe ...
