The winds of late have been EPIC but ive been getting absolutely hammered by sealice. More often then not ive come home looking like ive got a bad case of the pox. Literally got 50 bites all over. Maybe i just need to stop crashing and stay closer in. Anybody else scratching their tits off in agony?

Yep I've copped a few too. But after a quick check still seem to have tits intact.

Ive Kited at botany a fair bit and never had any trouble with this!
What do these things look like? Or is it that you dont see them, they just bite you, and then you know?

I think the dredging has stirred them up:

Yeah I kite there all the time and have not had any bites from sea lice, although there are a couple of larger red ringed homos that have tried to sting me, I narrowly escaped one last night, I'm still having flashbacks.

2 days ago one of the blokes i was kiteing with was complaining of being bitten and he had quite a few marks on him. i didn`t get a single one.
answer--- drink lots of beer the night before the little buggers don`t like it.

I've also heard that drinking beer makes you smarter, because you are only dumb because of your slowest and weakest brain cells.
It is well known that alchyhol kills brain cells, and of course it is the slower and weaker brain cells that will get killed first, and therefore drinking plenty of beer actually makes you smarter and is good for the evolution of the human race in general.
Do your duty, get smarter, drink more beer!

pelican itch/sea lice remedy from an old aboriginal fella at wallaga lake - just cut an onion in half and rub it on the affected area. it works, i kid you not!

Its called the buffalo theory......well known proven scientific phenomen....the herd is only as fast as the slowest buffalo. seems to translate directly to brain cells like a chemical form of darwinism.

Steve, you need to watch out for those red ringed homo bites, the arrive on gsxr's and 'pretend' the fit in with the crowd.

I thought that it was mosquitos at home that were getting me, because I would go Kiting and come home fine, and then overnight wake up with terrible itching, and the next day look like I had been monstered by a squadron of Mosquitos.

When I had a bit of a dig, I found this:

www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/

and this:

www.warringah.nsw.gov.au/community/pelicanitch.aspx

It seems like the dredging doesn't relate.

The summary is that it is likely to be a blood fluke. It comes out in water temps over 24 degrees, and wanders around the surface of the water looking for a bird to go and live in.

When it reaches a human, it burrows into the skin, but can't reach a blood supply and dies.

The itching and lumps is the bodies imune system response.

I have been getting it really badly between my waist and my knees.

My theory is that my full sleeve rashy keeps the little bastards off my body, the water flowing along my legs washes them off, but the trapped water under my boardies gives them time to attack.

My kite buddy wears a springsuit, and hasn't been bitten once.

I know that I probably just need to HTFU, but this **** is killing me, I can't sleep at night for the itching of these frigging bites.

I think until the water cools down a bit I might try and find some skins or similar to wear under my shorts to see if that helps.

Yes, the little buggers have been getting me also but unfortunately for me only twice in the last couple of weeks of ripping seabreezes everyday since thats the number of times I have been out. Maybe it is worse further north? I have been kiting near to the presidents ave carpark.

Really itchy for a few days, then it clears up. I have had them all over my body, but mostly on the torso and upper legs.

Maybe the situation is not as bad at dolls or kurnell since they are further away from the dredging?

Take an older type of Antihistamine such as Phenergan 10 to 20mg before you go to bed. It will help you sleep and reduce the itch.

if you don't like beer try taking vitamin B1 tablets (or is it B2) ? or are they bananas ? Seriously though, vitamin B will keep them, and mozzies, midgies, etc at bay.

A Mate of mine got bitten too on the inside of the upper leg, I had none, probably thanks to a wet suit liner in my bordies... I think there is enough evidence that the softer skin on the inner leg seems to be the target of preference.. Wear a spring or wet suit liners, will sort those buggers out for sure!

Bring on more wind...
