I'm considering getting a smaller kite and wouldn't mind buying secondhand, but many of the kites that i want are either in WA or QLD, to far to go and have a look. Pay etc.... so

Question: How do you ensure that after you hand over your cash that the dude at the other end will actually send the gear? (or that they even have the gear)

Thanks

If you feel up to it somewhere in the typed diarrhea of this forum there's a thread on this topic and there is a bunch of options on it. Think the last time it was on the front page was a couple of months ago.

Have used this system before, works fine, pay to pick up the item.
As far as the payment for the kite itself (usually bank transfer)would
think that any one that can get it together to advertise on this site can get it together to send it.(good as chance as e bay)

the typed diarrhea, lol, so true, i thought that there was, but couldn't find it, i even thought that it might be in the FAQ section.

windpig. not sure what you mean, with COD (i just checked the australia post website) you can have the reciever pay for the postage and the item then aussie post send a money order to the sender, its perfect, as long as the other guys wants to do that, but it wont affect how much money he gets at all, (just how much i pay for postage)

Cool thanks people, have fun

Another good idea is to have the buyer take the kite to one of their local reputable kite shops and have them inspect the kite and give you an honest report on the kite. You then deposit the money in the kite shop bank account and they post it to you. You could pay them say $20 for this service which is not a lot to avoid getting a dud or no kite at all.

another option is like what ebay does, yiou can set up one of those payment holding account thingines where the money isnt released until you get your goods.
My mate here in WA seano did it with an east coaster and it worked fine. I can ask him if you like.
