With the 70's coming back into fashion, we should all start buying CB radios to keep eachother upto date on the wind conditions. I can see it now, the airwaves full of riders saying where they are headed and what the conditions are like where they are.

Heck even real truckers could help us as they don't like to drive in big wind so they could tell us where it is blowin.

Plus we already have our call names. I can hear it now...............

Booman: This here is the Booman, anybody got your ears on. How bout you Slave comein.

Slave: Thats a big 10-4, we got 20+ blowin sideon with nothin but open water. Time to put the hammer down.

Uber: Dolls is a miss with the lots of bows and noobies on the water. But you got to love the police boat out patrolin the water lookin for hooligans, maybe they can give me a lift when I drift out into the bay.

Dolls does have a lot of passing traffic, so your chances of a lift in are pretty good.

I heard a guy once got caught by a fish hook being trawled by a boat. Stuck solid in his lip or something.

They did give he and his gear a ride to shore though - talk about getting picked up! [}:)]

I have been thinking about making a forum which posts an sms. All you need is one person down the beach to sms "yea come down it is a blowing a clean 15+" or "don't bother it isn't worth the trip". I hear it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Maybe, one day, BOM will instantly sms you when their beacons/transmitters register SE breeze over 15knts. Ohh the dream.

SMS is fine but will never match the witty banter of the excited kiter on the road to his favorite beach. Plus it is deadly to try and sms while driving.

Well witty might be overstating some of your abilities.

yeah, was there that day. twas strange to see the boat stop after the kite was in the water (post impact)and give the guy a lift to shore - gear and all. we almost gave a round of applause untill we saw his face, then it was all hands on mobiles to see which nearest er was not bussy. could not have happened to a nicer guy.
moral of the story: avoid everyone.
