I'm heading up to Cairns in a couple of weeks, to work for a week. Not working everyday, and was wondering if it's worth bringing the kite, as it would seem that the wet season is starting. This little weather page seems to give some good imfo.

by bringing your gear increases your chance of kiting by 100% so bring it. it appears the wet season has begun but you may get lucky.

... I went a few years ago in mid wet and had a blast. No one else kiting and had it all to myself (Yorkies), mind you the Nor-Easterlies brought in the jellies! Just get a stinger suit and sorted!

Thanks guys, looks like the rain might be breaking a few records at the moment, but will bring the gear, including my 12m Rebel.

Our wet season has definitely not started, there's no monsoonal trough, there's a very good chance it'll be dry when you're here. Also a good chance no wind but you'd be mad not to bring your gear.

Cleared up a bit today and blew its ring out for a few hours. Another large high (our SE trades) coming behind this one so should blow for a fair bit more if the rain stays away. You will have a much better chance of consistent wind and less rain at Port Douglas (hours drive north of Cairns) if you get the chance to get away.

Gumby, I went to Holloways but it was hell, gusty as and rough as guts. Fingers crossed for next week.
